Is fan content worth it?

Hello everyone. I'm sure you are tired of updates and for that I apologize. I've been doing a lot of back and forth on fan-content. As some of you may not be aware the state of my twitter/x has been extremely stagnant and the main cause (I assume) is that I had actually gotten a DCMA slap a few years ago and my account just never recovered.

In recent days I have been seeing more accounts being hit and with the goal being growth the last thing I want is my older content getting me into trouble be that losing accounts, legal, financial, ect.

Add in that I am slowly making my own thumbnails and it becomes an even bigger mess since custom thumbnails per character is an added creation that I am trying to make on top of my audio content.

I don't completely want to abandon fan content, but I am thinking of instead releasing things without ties to series or character names. So more 'based off' a character's concept/personality instead of trying to 1 on 1 that character. This way the art doesn't have to be exact and can still have my persona tied to it.

I do know that digital artists can get away with quite a bit, so I'm sure you are wondering why audio is so different? Personally it probably isn't, but I would just rather be safe than sorry especially since the content I do is more erotic.

Maybe I'm over reacting, what do you think?

Personally I prefer origional characters - there's probably some fan content I'd love. But I do think it's best to do what keeps you motivated.

Understandable. Fan content is a double-edged sword, because you may actually like the character type, but if you don't know the franchise you may decide to skip a listen.

Id rather you not be overwhelmed and free to make the content you want to. However i am one person. So i hope things can ease up on you.

I mean I love fan content. Having a world/character to play off and practice voices is super fun, but I can technically do that without labeling it as such. I also wouldn't want to deny any clients who want to commission fan content, the main change would be how I label and promote it publicly.
