Ministry of Portals Basement

As I delved deeper within, my next turn took me to the staircase leading down. "Well, here goes nothing..." I thought to myself as I trotted down the cold stone stairs.

Immediately, my jaw dropped to the floor. The only obstacle standing between myself and the largest pile of riches and artifacts I've seen in my lifetime was an iron-wrought cell bars and a cell door. I paused for a moment, the glint of silver and gold surely reflecting within my eyes.

Suddenly I heard it. The clunk of another door being opened just down the way, and a pair of guards moving out of what must have been their guard post.

"Think, what do I do!" I scrambled internally with my options. It was too likely that they would stop to inspect the room containing such treasures. Across the hallway, an open portal sat, yet I had no idea where it led. Still, the documents I had on me from the first floor were too precious to lose.

"I guess a random portal is better than certain incarceration. I just hope my comrades will be able to find me." I muttered to myself, dashing across the hallway and leaping into the unknown...

Due to popular demand it only felt right to return to the Ministry of Portals! The business has continued to expand, with new floors built to accommodate the ever-growing flow of travellers passing between the planes. But as the years have gone by, the worlds beyond have begun to leave their mark, with strange energies lingering in forgotten corridors, unfamiliar plants taking root in quiet corners, and entire rooms feeling just a little out of place.

Your party might descend into the lower vaults to investigate a sealed portal chamber, negotiate with merchants arriving from impossible realms, or uncover why certain travellers have begun disappearing shortly after passing through the Ministry. What was once a reliable crossroads between worlds is becoming something far more unpredictable.
