Hollow Chapel (collab with JamesRPGArt)

I'm excited to announce a collaboration with the fantastic JamesRPGArt! who's artwork adds great atmosphere and depth to any encounter. You'll find a sample pack of his scene art to go alongside this map download which includes animated day and night variations to really set the mood for the encounter with your players.

"Yeah, I remember that raid." the off-duty guard recalls. "The cleric Ulmer sent us to stop the abandoned chapel from being defiled. It's a holy site, you know. The bloody cultists had no respect for our traditions and our faith."

Pausing for a moment, he took another swig from his tankard and brushed the ale from his beard. The stranger topped his tankard off once more, to which the guard thanked him.

"It was known that they were stealing livestock from the nearby farms to perform their heinous acts, spilling blood within the chapel's sacred walls. They claimed knowledge of some sort of higher power, some new goddess!" he said, chuckling. "As if deities just pop out of the ground!"

The stranger, once more topping off the guard's ale, asked "And did they go quietly?"

"No, I can't say they did." he admitted, his face becoming more grim. "One begged us not to stop the ritual, that it would anger their higher power. She said the consequences would be disastrous. Then as we started making arrests, they tried to fight. They were outmatched, but they fought to the very last." As he continued his story, his hand moved to his chest as if a sudden pain had shaken him.

"And when did the famine start?" the stranger asked, his voice lowering to almost a growl.

"Why, now that you mention it... I think it was the next spring. The crops shriveled and blackened. We've struggled ever since..." The guard, now clutching his chest, spattered between drunken, labored breaths "Wait, you don't think that's related, do ya? And aren't you going to drink with me?"

"No, I don't think I will..." the stranger said, rising from his chair, casually walking away to the exit. "It's poisoned."

As the hooded stranger left the tavern, a rattled gasp escaped the guards lips as he slid off his chair and onto the floor.
