March 2026 Book Update

Dear WaveShapers,

This month's update is a new chapter about one topic, the most underrated sampling source: Your ideas!

"What are you talking about?!" I hear you say. Am I proposing some sort of mind-reading AI? Not at all.

When we think of sampling, the first thing that comes to mind is grabbing and rearranging sounds: field recordings, kitchenware, vinyl, etc. But what if we approached a sampling session differently - as time we set aside to explore and improvise musical ideas leisurely, and then treat that as the basis upon which to apply the usual suspect sampling/transformation techniques (chopping, slicing, looping, reverse, transposing, stretching, etc).

More on that starting Page 357, or just search for the string "MAR2026", and hopefully you explore this with your sample and start mangling your own ideas!

Besides that, I added touch-ups here and there and links to the new web apps (there are now 3 of them, with more to come).
