... and the other Superbooth shoe dropping: an in-depth look at Moog's new analog monosynth - Messenger. This is the first time Moog is releasing a synth with bass compensation for its legendary ladder filter, a first with dual wavefolding oscillators, and it's offered at a relatively aggressive price for Moog.
All the details are in the video, along with a couple of tips/ideas for using it a bit beyond the spec. The first is looking at it like a DFAM with presets and a whole bunch more. This of course applies to any synth with a sequencer and motion sequencing lanes, but I just felt Messenger really "wanted" to also be a DFAM... and the second, a web script workaround to play it paraphonically. Paraphonic performance is one of the two features Messenger lacks that Sub 25 and Sub 37 have (along with their lovely drive). I think their paraphonic mode has a particular charm, so I had AI write a little web script to simulate that experience on Messenger.
Besides that, I've attached high-quality 8 minute audio of me playing its sounds, and when I get back from Superbooth, I'll create and upload multisamples for the Modulator and WaveShaper tiers so you can get a taste of playing it at home.

Hey ! I recently launched myself in the Synths World and the purchase of the Messenger really helped me understand the basics ! Thanks to your video I can go deeper in my musical researches ! I might sound dumb but I can't open your script to try this duophonic mode wich might be heavenly useful for some of my ideas ! Can u help me please ?
Thanks for the kind words! There's no need to use my script anymore! Moog "ripped me off" and added a paraphonic mode in a firmware update after the release :)
Hi.. it looks like as of the latest firmware update, Messenger is duophonic! You just have to long press the OSC1->2 button!

Although I will have a soft corner for any Moog forever I sold my beloved Subsequent37CV at the end of the day, due to the poorly implemented sequencing features (the frail keybed didnt make things better). For the next monosynth release from Moog I was in good hope they would take a lesson from the example of the Sequential Pro 3. But to no avail. It is a pity.
