This missing piece in most studios (+15 tips for managing a multi-speaker setup)
Hi!
As you may know, I've been exploring quad music for a while. However, when engaging in non-quadraphonic endeavors and playing around different places in the studio, I leverage the extra speakers to give me a good stereo image, regardless of which direction I'm facing.
Over time, as I watched various studio tours, I noticed no one else was doing this, and I think that those who have more than one sitting position in their studio are really missing out with only a two-speaker setup.
In this video, I share some tips I've learned along the way as I fine-tuned my setup. As sweet as the sweet spot in your studio may be, if you turn left or right to play a synth, effect, or anything else, you're no longer getting a proper stereo image.
I hope you find this useful, and all these tips and ideas will, of course, be added to the next book update!
All my best,
Ziv (helping you find the missing piece on a youtube channel called "Loopop"...)

Hi Ziv, But is it possible to translate your book into Italian?
Hey, it's not something I can oversee, but if you have some AI tool that keeps it private and doesn't share it, you are welcome to do it. Let me know if it works!
I’ve been doing this too in my Atmos studio! 😊 But I already wrote a lengthy comment on the YouTube video so I won’t repeat it all here. 😅
Thanks, and thanks for your longtime support here!
I've been using a Motu Ultralite Mk5 for a quad setup and it has 10 analogue outs (7.2.1) . Cuemix 5 allows for different speaker groups to be setup with a single volume control and the new motu interfaces are class compliant . Also, have you ever checked out https://quark.cykik.com/ for encoding quad into a stereo file for vinyl or cassette?
Thanks for the comment. Re Ultralite - good point, I have the MK4 but haven't used it in a while! Re quark - yes I have check it out, it's mentioned in my book :)
Hi Ziv. Excellent video. I'm in the process of setting up a 7.1.4 speaker setup in a new studio I'm currently building out. I wonder if you've considered how best to position one or more computer monitors (mounted on VESA mounts) to play nicely with 3 loudspeakers across the front (L, C, R). My idea is to buy two 27" inch LCD monitors and have one between L and R, and the other between C and R. I'm also concerned about reflections off of the monitors. I wonder if you've given the issue of 3 speakers across the front, any consideration in your studio? Thanks!
Hey Matt, thanks and my pleasure! I've given consideration to adding a center and I've decided not to. My studio is small, and a center would be too close to me and prominent.
