August 2024 book update!
Dear WaveShapers,
I don't think there are many videos on the channel where I haven't used an arpeggiator, and yet they've never been granted the status of their own chapter - until now of course!
That's probably because most synths and keyboards have simple arps, so there wasn't much to talk about. That said, over the years we're increasingly seeing more synths and controllers that raise the bar on what arps can do. This month's reviews underscore the fact that creative arps are becoming affordable and mainstream, and work very well.
This chapter aims to highlight these capabilities, so that we as consumers ask manufacturers to include them, and also to share a few hacks/ideas in case they don’t. Some of these topics are expanded upon later in the book (LFOs and generative chapters), but it’s useful to explore them in simpler environments like an arpeggiator.
Here's a summary of what's new:
A brand new chapter about Arpeggiators and tips for hacking yours (Page 44)
Two new MIDI TRS A and B tips (Page 65)
Two new MIDI filtering tips (Page 254)
Touch-ups to the MIDI controller buyer’s guide in light of recent reviews (Starting page 495)

That's it for now - you can skip between the updates by searching for the string "AUG2024", and as usual but never taken for granted, thanks for being here!
