TEMPERA - a new approach to granular synthesis (+bonus downloads)
Hi!
Tempera from BeetleCrab (yes, that's the company's name) takes a refreshingly new approach to granular synthesis - rather than give you just one core granular "position", it lets you create multiple touch points (quite literally in the case of their grid), across multiple samples, where each of those touch points can generate grains based on one of four customizable granular behaviors ("emitters").
It's reminiscent of Borderlands and Plinky, but it kicks it up a few notches in how it comes together as a playable instrument. I think it's quite an innovative way to perform with samples - all the details are in the video.
I ended up including 25 minutes (!) of sounds playing the factory canvases in the video; the video download of that came out way too big for Patreon, and even the high-quality audio-only download had to be split into two parts - but it's here for those interested!
All my best,
Ziv (surfing granular samples on a youtube channel called "Loopop"...)
PS! I'm heading out to Sonar in Barcelona - always such a massive inspiration for creativity in music tech. Here's the line up in case you're interested. Let me know if there's an artist/performance/exhibitor you'd like me to see! I'll be posting updates as Instagram stories like I did in Superbooth, I think that's the best way to share as much as possible in a quick and easy way, but I'm happy to respond here to questions/topics to take a closer look at if you think there's something I shouldn't miss.
