USBIP & VIIPER - Virtual controller status
We’re aware of the numerous issues currently affecting USBIP and VIIPER, the virtual controller stack used by Handheld Companion, and we’re actively working on them.
USBIP
A new USBIP update is planned by the end of September and will finally address a long-standing issue where, once a virtual controller had been emulated, USBIP could no longer be properly uninstalled or updated without restarting Windows.
This has been particularly troublesome for all users during the update process but also during development and testing, and we’re making sure the updated stack handles the controller lifecycle and cleanup correctly.
VIIPER
An updated libVIIPER is also ready. The new version:
Maintains compatibility with usbip-win2 0.9.7.8 and earlier
Improves compatibility with usbip-win2 0.9.8.0 and newer
Addresses the newer USBIP ioctl device-attach changes
Improves overall interoperability between VIIPER and different USBIP versions
This also addresses the compatibility issue tracked in:
We know this part of HC has been rough lately. The fixes are actively being worked on and are coming. Thanks for bearing with us while we get the virtual controller stack back into a more reliable state.
