November art card print
FINAL UPDATE - 11/8/23: Ok so I realized I had a lot of other stuff to get to for the month so decided to just push through finishing this during our DnD night as well as getting the sticker art done which I'll post below this blurb. As for the print art I am actually super pleased with how it turned out. I think I was able to find a fun spin on some of my big influences in art (Watterson of course as mentioned already) while still making it my own with how I choose shapes and work with them, especially in my characters. I think I found a fun balance between the boy and big foot in terms of design. I know typically for new ideas like this one I try and make a logo as well but I didn't have time unfortunately and I like the piece as is without one, so for now we go without. I have a bit more exploration and thoughts on the concept in general that I'll try and get written up to share at some point this month as well.
Now as for the sticker this was just a little fun silly thing. I did however keep the deep shadows as I thought it brought a fun contrast and is a bit more striking which I think works for something that will be a sticker and not a print. This was fun and I hope you all like the little spell scroll. If I was more clever I would have written up a whole little school house rock bit about "I'm just a scroll" but alas, I am not.
UPDATE 2 - 11/8/23: So I have designs in place for the boy and the big foot and have started an ink test to try and find a line quality I like and want to try and work with in the piece. I'm going to next try and move into some of the environment shapes with it and see what I want there. My initial thought is to keep things more angular and maybe a bit sharper to contrast the rounded and softer shapes of the characters. I'm also not wanting to line art the entire scene. I really want to try and invocate some Calvin and Hobbes traits here where I let color tell the story of the background shapes with some assists from the lines and blacks. We'll see if I can pull something off that is even remotely close but either way it's been fun. Now I need to shift back to stickers as well as continuing to work on some gig stuff I have. More updates soon(ish) as I try and get these things print ready and off.
UPDATE 1 - 11/7/23: Alright so I've started sketching out the environment a bit more and got it to a place I think I can work with. So now I'll shift to actually trying to figure out the shapes and style for the characters.
In addition to this I started sketching some ideas for the sticker of the month as well and I think I may have landed on this little sentient magic scroll as a fun little fella.
That's it for today as I don't want to push things too much on the first day back. Thanks y'all.
(images will be added to the gallery later on once finished art is done.)

Hello fine folks here is the start of this month's art! So the idea is one I've had for quite a long time and I think may have even made a brief appearance in a sketchbook post ages ago, but it is hopefully going to be something fun for everyone. The idea is a scene of two characters walking through some woods and hills with nice fall setting. I wanted to try and do something to capture the colors of fall as we head into winter and also try and work out my concept for a picture book/comic strip/whatever depicting a child and their best friend big foot. So this one may take a bit longer throughout the month than past prints but I hope you'll stick with me and enjoy the updates.
As usual I will update this post with new screenshots as things progress and things may even change drastically as I move closer to a finished illustration. But that said I am off for now, back to feeling almost normal and hopefully progressing with some art. Have a great week folks and as always, be good to each other.

Loving this so far! That sketched scenery looks downright Calvin & Hobbes-y!
Thanks dude! And yes, Watterson and C&H are so seminal to me growing up and wanting to make art so this is probably a bit of a subconscious homage here.
