WrassleVania

UPDATE (7/16/22): So I am going to try and keep WrassleVania things to this post (if possible) and wanted to share some new pixel art. I was streaming some this past week and remarked how the old wrestler sprites were fine but lacked personality or character. And since this would ultimately be a Beat Em' Up style game in the vein of Streets of Rage, TMNT, Final Fight etc I wanted to have more individuality to the characters. So I started thinking of different archetypes and things and getting ideas down. I ended up pixeling these three over the course of the week and really like how they turned out. The direction is better, sprites are bigger and I feel like I'm finding a more stable footing with the direction I'd like to go.

ORIGINAL POST: Hey y’all so today on Twitter I posted a silly idea I had which was basically a group of professional wrestlers assuredly traveling from one town to another to do their shows gets lost or waylaid and ends up in a town that’s sort of run down and cursed by monsters and such, They use their skills and stuff to fight back the evil and free the town. it is a super silly idea but it all culminated in the title “WrassleVania” as a play off of Castlevania, I didn’t think much of it initially outside of the word made me laugh. But I quickly started seeing jokes and visuals in my head and decided I could fold this into the pixel art peactixe I was already doing as seen here.

So these were all done over the past couple of weeks as I had an idea for a spooky but fun game idea as the loose framework for my pixel practice. So semi-directionless but just learning and having fun. Fast forward to this idea today and why not combine it all I figure. So I had a small twitter thread going with simple ideas and ended up making some more practice sprites. 

these are all still pretty rough but again, I’ve only been trying to properly learn this stuff for a couple weeks lol. Anyways this may be a silly little thing I chip away at when I can and who knows, maybe it will become something eventually.

oh I also (because of course, I am me after all.) messed with a quick title/logo idea sketch.

But anyways I thought it could be fun to sort of bring y’all along with yet another idea I’ve got and maybe we can all have some fun seeing what happens.
