Sometimes silly distractions are important
Hey y'all,
So this week I am getting back to the comic as well as some other work stuff and as you know the Patreon monthly art is underway soon (btw if you haven't yet, you have one day left to vote in the poll!) But with all these things coming back I found myself sort of just not wanting to do them lol. This happens time to time where I'll be motivated to make something, but in the moment that something isn't what I should be doing. But this week I decided you know what, why not? I've long lambasted some of the ways things shake out and minor annoyances working as a freelance artist/designer and having chats with others in the field and just folks in general you develop these views and little jokes. That all in mind I decided last night in an effort to vent some small frustrations with clients who took the holiday week off so that's why my invoices weren't paid I would design some stuff just for me. The end result of that you now see before you. I created this little mascot dude of a mischievous bag of cash or some such, played around with some colors and styles and ended up with the off white/gold combo which I really enjoy. Also it allowed me to give them a gold tooth which is just very funny to me.
Anyways I designed these two t shirts as I said, mainly for myself and I actually have a couple getting printed up so I'm excited to have them in hand in a couple weeks or so.
So what is this for? What is the lesson? Well the lesson is that sometimes it is ok to get distracted. It's ok to let your mind wander a bit creatively and to just make something silly. Make something for you and know that the world won't end because you pushed something else a day. So yeah, the comic will return tomorrow but most likely in the afternoon as I still have to finish the art and I don't want to push my wrist too much (I think I have a little tendinitis or something, we've been using a brace when I'm not working to make sure I keep my wrist stable. Seems to be helping.)
So thank you for indulging my ramblings here today, I hope you dig the art and I'll be back soon!
