February mini print!
UPDATE 2/12/20: DONE!
Alright so the art for the print is done! I added a few more shots so folks can see the progress. I’ll be making a separate post soon with the finished art again along with the PSD and high res art for the specific tiers that get those. Thank you all for letting me do this.
UPDATE 2/10/20:
I've got the line art done and my greys set in on their own layers. Now I'll be figuring out my lighting and shadows and then finishing up with color!
UPDATE 2/8/20:
I’m working my way through the foliage and overall environment of the print now, had so,e commission work to sort out this past week so that took some time. But here are a couple of the in progress shots. I am hoping to have the line art wrapped up by Monday so I can figure out what type of style I want to use for color. I have an idea but i won’t be able to tell if it’ll work until I get there.
Alright folks so the poll has ended and the winner for the first Patreon mini print is Kuro! This is very exciting as it means y’all are actually interested in seeing more of my own character and his world!
Since this is the first mini print we’re working on for Patreon I want to explain a little about how this is going to work. If you are a Patron at the Super Warrior Tier or higher you’ll be receiving one of these prints in the mail when they’re all done and printed as well as a PSD file download so you can look over the actual art file and see how it all came together. You will also get a high-res image download of the print art as well (Earth Warrior tier patron will also receive high-res art download) Now onto actual art talk!
So for this first print I wanted to explore just a cool locale in the world Kuro lives in. I’m a big fan of drawing Kuro relatively small in these sort of big scenes. I really like to try and give a sense of like foreboding or just really isolation to these places. The world is large but not intensely populated so there are a lot of ruins, left behind settlements and other such places. Add in the fact that magic (in the world of Kuro, Magik), monsters and other manner of creature also exist here, these destinations can be pretty strange looking. I would love to have some small companion lore excerpts to go along with any Kuro art to sort of give some context so maybe we can do that with this print, I’ll play around a bit.
So that’s it for now, I hope you’re into it and excited to see the progress as I update this post until the art is done. As always, thank you so much for your support! Share this art and Patreon with your friends and family who may be into it or curious about learning art processes.
