Pausing Struck Content: Blind Wave's Gameplan
The Blind Wave Crew have been discussing how to proceed with the SAG Strike, and we have an updated proactive gameplan. We are pausing our posts of the following videos that feature struck content on Patreon as well as YouTube until we receive clarification from SAG:
Ben 10
Ben 10 Alien Force
Band of Brothers
Batman: The Animated Series
Community
Rome
Secret Invasion
It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia
Ted Lasso
Movie Reaction Poll Winner - Inception
We have seen contradicting information originating directly from SAG on the issue of whether our style of content is seen as promotion from an influencer, which would be considered “crossing the picket line” – or if our videos are considered to be reviews and therefore should continue. BOTH of these classifications have been applied to different reactors who have reached out to SAG.
This current pause is only temporary until we receive clarification. Once we do, one of two outcomes will occur:
If Blind Wave’s content falls within SAG’s guidelines to be able to continue posting reactions to struck content, we will resume posting as soon as possible.
If Blind Wave’s content falls within SAG’s guidelines to NOT be able to continue posting reactions to struck content, we will halt the above reaction series and reevaluate their future on the channel once they are no longer struck.
Our goals are to continue to entertain our fans, while also supporting the writers and actors who create the content featured in our reactions. If we are unable to continue reactions to struck shows, then we will continue to produce reactions to non-struck shows and movies: anime, non-struck American productions, and non-struck content from outside America (i.e. the UK, India, etc). We would also take this opportunity to create, or possibly resume, other types of non-reaction content.
We know that this pause in content is disappointing, but it is important to us that we support the artists who bring these wonderful stories we love to life.
Thank you for supporting us.
Please message us directly here on Patreon if you have any questions or concerns.

🤦♂️ thank god i watch only anime on current shedule ... will you stop posting also Ahsoka or that show isnt struck content?
I REALLY hope this leads to Alice in Borderland reactions! I have watched a bunch of random reactors watch it and it's brought me so much joy, I really anticipate the day you all dive into the mystery of it!
hurray for more anime reactions 😋
10 slots just opened up for One Piece
10 slots just opened up for Bleach
I will continue to support you guys the $5.00 a month I give you wont break me heck there are only a couple of shows I watch that are available a head of time. If this last long I'm hopping for a return to game night and some Cooking with Blind Wave.
really big love to you all for this!! I would like to add that A24 is an independent studio so their projects can still be covered during this time if that is of interest to you all! Would really recommend Bodies Bodies Bodies as a fun horror satire commentary on Gen Z!!
time to get into some kdramas. there are a ton on netflix but you honestly can watch them anywhere like viki. my love from the stars, bloodhounds, love rain, to the beautiful you, spy myung wol, the fugitive plan B, mister black (most likely yall would love. action thriller in the vain of bourne with a talented mister ripley twist. based upon the count of monte cristo).
WOW
RIP
I'm not sure we're going to be getting reactions back anytime soon as long as the strike persists; I follow a writer/actress (who I'm sure some here are familiar with since she's worked with Disney, DC, HBO, and Netflix on various projects) named Dani Fernandez, and she just posted a screenshot of an updated email from SAG-AFTRA with the following part highlighted: "Even when done for fun, posting about struck work such as reactions to new episodes from a struck series, or even old shows/films that if produced today, would be struck, can be viewed as promotional." Right after that, it continues, "For those reasons, we ask that you help us in relaying the seriousness of this matter by refraining from posting about any project by struck companies during the strike." An earlier part of the email says, "Non-union influencers posting content from struck work should refrain from posting on social media even if those posts are unpaid, and the influencer is posting from the point of view as a fan." That sounds fairly definitive to me, but obviously, the Blind Wave crew might get a different clarification (like, do they fall under the 'influencer' umbrella or is there a separate category for reactors, etc).
but blind wave aren't influencers they are their own
Personally I think you should have kept it business as usual at least until next month. Give people notice so they can decode what they want to do about Patreon. If I paid for anything for the month then 20 days in the parameters were changed to give me less id feel cheated,
You can get refunded
So you’re supporting them by not watching the shows? Then you guys should probably private or delete every video on your channel with a reaction to a struck show. Since you wouldn’t want to be making money of off those shows right? Or are only paying Patreon members going to suffer while you still make money off of everything made up until now?
yes
I get the strike and all that, but damn I really do hate that it’s affecting my other entertainment sources. Already every season in production right now will suffer quality wise, massively. I don’t see how “reacting is crossing the picket line!” Makes sense. Tired of this bs worming its way into everything. They can protest and go on strike, but don’t pretend that just because I watch a movie or show that somehow I’m “part of the problem”
The strike is supposed to be disruptive. The studios wouldn't care if the writers/actors went on strike and they could just continue on, business as usual.
One Piece please!!!
Hope Flashwave and some of y’all can find something to actually do with your day cause seeing y’all obsessing over this page and replying to damn near every single comment that disagrees with your position is mad pitiful tbh.
Dude right? I’ve been reading all the comments since the post was live yesterday morning and he’s gotta be 50% of the comments. Shows how little integrity some people have just to oppose everyone else who aren’t in support of people trying to make a living
totally fine with this
Okay! You know, you could always catch up on Naruto and RWBY as a result!
Always going to support you guys and your choices! I’ve been following you guys in different ways for over 4 years now and are consistently the best content creators for me. I listen to podcasts to fall asleep because you guys are calming to me, I watch all of your videos even the anime I don’t watch because it’s you guys I’m here for most. Do what’s best for you guys and your beliefs for union workers and the betterment of all people
ya but what their doing is not helping SAG its hurting them right now
These comments dumb as hell my god. Support the strike so people can be paid fairly.
yes they did idk why blind wave is confused. tbh I think its just an excuse to take a couple days off
Toxicity shouldn’t be responded to with more toxicity.
I just wanna point out, the reactions from people in these comments is EXACTLY why we will never, ever have any sort of meaningful political change or reform in America, ever. Just sayin'
It's incredibly disappointing, yeah. So many people are incapable of saying "I know this will hurt me in the short term, but it's better for everyone in the long run, so I'll do it"
So Tuesday is the only day y'all are going to upload. Hopefully y'all get some clarification quickly
Could be worse, I already watched all of their BoB's videos, and I fell behind on Rome. I only really come here for the movie reactions and the occasional anime. Apart from Rome and BoB, I never watched any of those reactions.
Good thing I unintentionally canceled my membership at the right time
Hopefully this purges out the majority of the entitled toxic “fans”
Why would you want that? They pay for Patreon and don't do much besides leave mean comments. Them leaving would eat into the crew's income when they are in a hard time due to the strike.
Naruto twice a week? UwU
Good on you guys. I'm not going anywhere. Happy to keep my sub going for as long as it takes. I'm saddened when I see so many people saying they are going to cut their sub because of this but your real supporters will stick around regardless to show their support as well as see what content you come up with in the mean time. Keep up the good work :)
Patting yourself on the back much? People can disagree with the way they approach activism especially if it breaches their expectations of what they pay for. I’ll keep my sub but they should’ve definitely differed this till the first of next month. Not everyone has to be content with continuing paying an indefinite $15 for a debatable approach to protesting. I’m Pro-SAG btw, and I understand that Blind Wave are trying to find ways to help. Again, you can debate those ways. No shame in that.
Much appreciated.
Welp this comment section is very toxic lol, While I think people should tone down how insane they are being about this I do agree that this is not the correct way to help the strikes. This kinda just hurts everyone in some way expect the studios. I agree that giving a portion of your guys income is a better way to directly make a impact on the strike and help it be successful. However I am very proud that the guys decided to do something even if I don't agree its the right way to do it.
Oh just for the folks freaking out, this strike is likely not gonna last too much longer now the actors guild is joining the strike. They literally can't make new content at this point which was the reason the studios felt they could drag out the strike cause they had enough written content backlogged they could weather the storm but without actors they can't do that anymore. Just my two cents on the people losing there minds like this is the end of the world lol
I've replied earlier but do want to say solidarity is not one time act when it is convenient, it's a life long commitment to workers rights and the power of the union. I've seen comments mocking Blind Wave as if they think this will be seen by the studios, or thinking it's purely because they want to be SAG members, or implying that it's needless support for wealthy actors/writers. I don't think people should let their disappointment/frustration cloud the actual facts - most writers/actors in these unions are not wealthy, many can't afford healthcare and they're asking for fractional amounts of studio's profit for incredibly basic requests i.e 'pay us on time' (to which the studios said no!). SAG have put out some guidelines regarding 'influencers', i.e non members who have public facing content/large audiences and it is not entirely clear how this factors in reaction channels. This post was clearly made to communicate whilst looking for further information/clarification. Everyone has suddenly become a two bit hyper capitalist who understands either the rigours of the market or a faux sympathiser who actually knows how this will hurt strikers (despite it being, you know, potentially want they've asked for in solidarity). I do wonder what people actually want from the creators they support, just a mindless slew of reactions no matter what, or four men (and their partners/friends/employees etc) - actual real people that have genuine principles. I also hope for everyone posting some of the more horrible stuff that if the time comes that your industry, or you personally, need support in the workplace that you get the solidarity you need and have a strong union , or rights earned by workers collectively leveraging power, to help you.
i respect your train of thought here but im really not sure if its necessary, and i gotta say from a selfish standpoint it really does come at the worst possible time considering i just resubscribed to Patreon for the first time in months 😭 is a refund possible?
What if you reacted to things like Critical Role Calamity (highly recommend) or Dropout TV Dimension20, Game Changer, or other of their shows?
I don’t see how pausing {reactions} to already created content is furthering the cause in any way. Reactions mostly assume the user has already watched the content at least once. And in cases where someone navigates a show for the first time using a reaction, that means they are watching it illegally and aren’t paying the studio. Both cases don’t translate to the cause at hand. Also, some of the shows on the list are 20+ years old. The contracts were signed and the (low) pays were received decades ago. We are protesting future contracts not the past. Puzzling approach through and through.
I support you guys’ intentions but this is the type of over-the-top activism that ends up hurting the cause. Some of us disagree with the soundness of this decision but have already been billed regardless. A poll or something could’ve at least put us in the know. Good intentions, debatable execution.
If your looking for replacement shows here are a few suggestions 1. The Owl House 2. RWBY 3. Star Vs The Forces Of Evil 4. Succession 5. Justice League 6. Summer Time Rendering 7. Star Trek Lower Decks
most of them would be under the strike
If you are so concerned shut your business down and do something else. Reaction channels have always been immoral. You have never supported the artists and writers. You have used their work to make yourself wealthy. This cognitive dissonance is insane. You are just lying to your fans. If you supported them then you might actually have talked about them ever. I wonder when you have talked about the writers????HMMMMMMM One day the same writers and actors should shut all of you down.
There are so many things wrong with this statement, it's laughable. It's not too late to delete this.
As best as I can find, RWBY is not a “struck work”, so you could always catch up on that!
This is just going to turn the people against the writers & actors who are striking. We didn't really care what was happening before, but now they're going to end up making enemies of us.
Welp, I really don't have any stake in this whole thing, got bigger fish to fry then supporting SAG, but none of all 1 of the shows I watch are affected so... thanks for the heads up I guess?
I'd really love to know what fish you have to fry that are bigger than people being paid a living wage for their work. You must be solving world hunger or curing cancer
I understand that people are frustrated, and there's nothing wrong with feeling that way, but I wasn't expecting some of these comments. It looks like the Blind Wave community has / had more toxic members than I realized. If you want a refund, reach out to them. There's no point in crying about "wasted" money if you haven't taken any steps to get it back. Blind Wave literally wrote, "Please message us directly here on Patreon if you have any questions or concerns," in the announcement, so take that first step if you want a refund. However, before you leave, I would encourage you to re-read their announcement at least 2 or 3 times. For all we know, SAG could tell Blind Wave that some of the shows are fine to watch. Maybe we'll see reactions to some of them later this week or next week. Or maybe we won't see reactions to any of the listed shows until after the strike is over. Even if the shows all stay on hiatus, it doesn't mean we'll get NOTHING. If you subscribed for a specific show, and that specific show is now on hiatus, I understand the desire for a refund. If that's the case, be honest and respectful about it. Don't be one of the assholes spreading lies about how Blind Wave is taking our money and giving us nothing in return.
If you spend $15 to see IASIP, then they are taking that money and not giving you what you paid for. How is that a lie? It is literally a fact. They said message them yet they aren't replying to anyone and I highly doubt people are getting refunds, at least right now. And you know damn well that if all of the shows go on hiatus for the next 6 months, they won't do anything to replace them because historically they've hated doing that, and there is no mention of it.
Full support to the writers and actors that are responsible for the shows we love so much. I respect and admire Blindwave's stance and will continue to support them as a patron
I don't get it. Everyone is crying like it'll change something. Blind Wave supports the SAG strike and I think that's great. If you don't like that then don't subscribe until they start watching the shows again. I'm sure Blind Wave knows that this will cause a hit in their subscriber count and they are supporting SAG despite that
Exactly. The same people who are rudely going after Blind Wave for supporting SAG, arguing that this decision won't make a difference... are the same people who think being rude to Blind Wave will make a difference. They aren't gonna change their minds just because you're being an asshole to them. If you can't afford to keep your subscription, that's fine. If you don't want to keep your subscription, that's also fine. But being rude to Blind Wave about their decision to follow their morals is crossing a line.
You got til 8/1 to undo this or buh bye
👋🏻
What does it mean for content to be struck? Shows that are already over obviously aren't being worked on anymore, so how is it detrimental to the workers to release content about them? Are they shows owned by the companies workers are striking against? Is it to show solidarity, or does continuing to release the content actively affect something that I'm just unaware of? Please, someone explain this to me.
Where are your balls Blindwave, wtf?
It's called solidarity, you should look it up
I say fuck it cancel all American reactions and let’s go full force on the anime reactions!!! IM TALKING ONE PIECE, DOUBLE NARUTO DROPS, AND 2 MORE ANIME SLOTS!! All jokes aside though if this is how y’all wanna support the writers/actors good then go ahead 👍 but I do wonder can’t y’all just pirate these shows so you’re not supporting the businesses directly?
Add Rurouni Kenshin to that anime list.
Man, I do not think they will ever recover from this..
And if they get told on Wednesday they can proceed as normal, will you be deleting this comment?
One Piece
Was just charged on the 19th. Fuck
Now is the time for multi drops of one piece to fill the void😁, honestly I have mixed feelings because I’m in complete support of the strike and want it to drag on as long as possible so it hurts those rich fucks cause that’s the only way they will listen and give the writers what they deserve, but personally I fail to see how this will help anything, I understand currently airing shows like secret invasion and not supporting these company’s current output, but something like Ben 10? is blindwave doing Ben 10 reactions that they aren’t even speaking that highly of really promoting anything, will them not airing this effect when the strike ends because the short answer is it won’t. I’m sorry if this comes off as a lack of solidarity but I just don’t get this decision
But seriously considering doing one piece reactions to fill the void. the fanbase is so dedicated that you won’t need to worry about the loss of other patrons(which I know isn’t the point) because you’ll get so many new excited one piece fans 😁
So much respect for you guys! 💪💪👏👏👏
Damn that flashwave guy is a total dumbass.
because im right?
Thank you for supporting the workers and doing your part to respect their boundaries and guidelines! You guys continue to show why you are my favorite crew!
PERFECTLY WELL PUT I respect you guys for holding back in support. I’ve been thinking of not going to the theaters to watch movies until the strikes have ended to support the writers & actors. But I’ve been hesitant to do so since I just go to the movie theater literally every week. But if you guys can stop reacting and reviews series that you love to life than I know I can stop going to the movies theaters. So thank you for the inspiration and encouragement for me to do so. #wgastrong ✊🏻 #sagaftrastraong ✊🏻
Our understanding is that there is no boycott to watching struck content (i.e. theaters, streaming, etc). But we have seen conflicting responses on this same subject about where reactions sit with this, which is why we are just trying to get clarification while not posting things that may possibly be against the strike. You should be fine, and actually encouraged, to see movies in the theaters such as Barbie and Oppenheimer.
Oh so another fake Organization making claims
God, this is confusing and upsetting. I don't understand this at all. What do Hollywood people have to do with YouTubers?! And why not just make content?! I pay for it for a reason and I don't care about rich Hollywood types. We want content and entertainment and that's what matters! This is just denying fans. It'd be like a good place suddenly not serving food which you came for in the first place! Strikes are so stupid and confusing and upsetting...
How many times you gonna copy/paste something on every single comment, displaying just how little you actually understand about this strike and why it’s happening? Hint: it isn’t for the movie and TV stars who get big paychecks. It’s for the thousands of people in the industry who don’t get fair compensation for the work that these studios make fuckloads off of.
Thank y'all for standing up for the striking workers! This is amazing and this is why I love to support y'all
What?! How is it "amazing" that we are losing content we pay for for no reason?! What do rich Hollywood people have to do with YouTubers?! We just want to watch reactions to shows and this is denying us content and entertainment. I hate this
Whole lotta simps for the studios in here lol. Mad respect to you guys for this! I can't have been an easy decision to make! Glad to know i'm supporting people with integrity!
God, this is confusing and upsetting. I don't understand this at all. What do Hollywood people have to do with YouTubers?! And why not just make content?! What are the chances any of the blind wave guys are reading any comments. I bet they threw the grenade and ran.
We have been looking at all of the comments.
Appreciate the heads up. I personally enjoy a lot of the Uk and independent films. So if this is something that y’all pursue I am excited to see y’all’s reactions.
If Ben 10 gets put on hold there will no longer be an excuse for no double naruto drops 🙏 all jokes aside I respect y’all’s desire to protect actors and writers, as beneficiaries of the entertainment industry
Agreed even if it’s only for like a month lol
As a substitute have you put any thought into maybe bringing DnD back or board game videos?
Oh. I'm only here for early access to Alien Force. Can you see my BW patreon viewing history, and if so, would that factor in to your reviewing a refund request?
Anyhow good luck to the actors and writers
Damn was just about to upgrade my tier
I’ll always respect people sticking to their principles so I support this decision. But I also gotta say this is a massive fuck you to your fans. I subscribed last week. That’s £20 I can’t really be affording to waste in this economy. I didn’t subscribe to Disney and Netflix this month so I could subscribe to you guys. Please don’t take us for granted.
Request a refund. This wasn’t a decision made lightly, and it isn’t at all a “fuck you” to the fans, if you actually read the statement.
As Mac stated, they gave as much of a heads up as they could. Please be patient as they try to figure this out, or just cancel your membership and/or try requesting a refund. I get the frustrations, but I trust Blind Wave is doing everything they can to navigate this difficult time as smoothly as possible.
Well, at least I can save $15 now.
i got lucky i could cancel before i got billed. you should be fulfilling your promises on patreon by completing the month. doing this without warning is a bad look
if I say $15 worth for something I expect to get $15 worth not $11 worth.
It's definitely a form of promotion I mean I literally just purchased Ben 10 Alien Force the other day just to watch along with the reaction
Same
Writers aren’t writers anymore, they’re activists who pollute every story they touch with their personal ideals. So ya know, fuck em.
your AI
CLARIFICATION: Blindwave wants to join SAG in the future, my mistake
Appreciate you guys doing this, will keep my sub going till you all get further clarification and pass it along
They gave as much of a heads up as they could. New information came out Friday, they discussed it at length yesterday, and this is them giving everyone an outline of the plan
Can't say I fully understand your decision, but you should of really given a head's up before withholding content from your fans. To get this message out of the blue like this makes me seem undervalued as a paying customer.
or wait till the end of the month. people who just subbed this week got royally fucked
If you just wanna, like... play D&D... I would totally be down for that 😬
Better be giving refunds
The month ends in a few days, cancel your pledge and move on with your life baby boy.
A way to support the studios would be for like Arron and Melanie to do a barbie review and Eric and Calvin do a Oppenheimer review and then react to both when they come to streaming after the strike. thats what ppl are doing that support the writers and actors because going to the theater is showing the studios we want more of this and want our actors and writers. however, stopping content is saying okay studios do what u want well wait till u wanna, fuck the writers and actors less work for us at blind wave. now I don't believe blind wave thinks that but why no review for barbie or Oppenheimer this weekend? that would be the best way to support the writers and actors right now more than ever
They don’t always do movie reviews
I'm just glad they didn't mess with Naruto because that wouldn't be pretty.
Also, important to remember this strike is largely about streaming platforms and residuals. So it makes sense that reactions would come into play, especially in watch-along formats, because those views = residuals for the company, but not much there for writers and actors -- smaller parts and background actors, in particular. I want to see the guys continue to react to Lasso, but it falls under that umbrella, so I get it even if it's a bummer for me. I'm willing to wait for them to receive official clarification (and not just what Reel Rejects, for example, are saying; let them get it from the source).
it doesnt make sense listen to harloff if u don't trust greg from reel rejects because HARLOFF IS A SAG MEMBER
This is like the BLM protest. They join a cause that won't matter later down the line and you guys are only joining and letting us know to make blindwave look like a positive thing to the community. Get off that high horse. Plus you guys live in a small town in Ohio. You guys aren't film experts or writers. Just a bunch of wannabe hollywood fanatics. Now get back to work, we are putting our foot down. Enough is enough of this woke bs cancel culture you guys are embracing.
Get a fucking life, dude.
this is supporting the STUDIOS.... wtf guys. you are hurting the writers and actors doing this. unless u are a member of sag or want to join in the future which im pretty sure u guys don't then u want to continue doing this content to show we value the actors and writers work . real rejects Kristian Karloff and any real person who knows what their talking about has addressed this. you guys are completely allowed to do ur stuff. this is such an over correction.
How does this support the studios?
First, I want to say that I fully understand and respect this decision, and if I was in a better situation, I would happily stick around and support the channels during this period. With that being said, I'm in a pretty tight financial situation right now, and had already been considering dropping my support temporarily for that reason. Now, seeing as all the series that I watch on this channel are on pause right now, that has given me the final push to do so. I am fully planning on jumping back on board when I can, whether the strikes are still ongoing or not, but I need to do this for my own wellbeing.
Hey, since you guys only watch Naruto once a week "because you're busy" you have time for more right? Right...?
Damn lotta people being little bitches when all you guys said, ‘hey we want clarification so we’re going to take a pause’, like this could all be cleared up by Tuesday but you got people here thinking you’re scamming them
its an overreaction. just do the research bud ur allowed to do whatever u want. and the problem is blind wave says they support the actors and writers but them doing this ACTIONS SPEAK LOUDER THAN WORDS.... and this action shows they support the studios and don't support the writers and actors.
Perfect time for me to catch up on old reactions from y’all!
The Reel Rejects made a video on this very recently that clarified that reaction/commentary videos are allowed even during the strike, as long as you are not being paid to promote said project by the company. Also if you don’t belong to SAG or don’t plan to, it doesn’t matter what you do.
They would prefer to have a direct answer from SAG themselves
Bruh what am I paying for idc what’s happening in Hollywood this ain’t the way to handle it imo
Solidarity for the reactors who can't do reactions because of sag. The are either part of the union or wanting to be part, so anyone who reacts to the struck content will not be allowed in sag
I hope you guys are prepared for the loss of income, because you're going ti have a lot of people cancelling their Patreon subscription. I know I will be.
I think they will manage just fine without you
Well atleast my naruto reactions are safe, sad to hear about batman and ben ten and phily. I generally support blindwave decisions but this still kindve sucks. owell
This is a brave a bold move. It will give other reaction channels a chance to grow in your temporary absence of quality content.
Good for them? Reaction channels can coexist. They seem to have a pretty solid community from what I've seen
I definitely support this decision, although should it apply to content that is not actively being produced as of currently? Update: I now understand how this affects older shows as well. (OLD: A 15 year old show shouldn't really have any impact on this current deal, as they wouldn't be reimbursed for material under prior contracts regardless. Only difference would be in the financial support of services such as Netflix, which I don't really think is affected directly by your channel regardless.) As this is likely temporary, I'm not asking for the reversing of the decision here. And even if it extends further on behalf of SAG, I still think you should all continue to support it through these means. However, my curiosity still stands on how applicable the support of old shows stands in relevancy to this.
Lotta cry babies in here need to go work full time jobs for free so they understand whats going on
well many ppl have full-time jobs that are not paying as much as any low-income actor or writer gets and still paying for content here
I don't comment a lot but I'm glad to hear you guys are taking this so seriously and showing your support by waiting for further information, I know this upsets a lot of people but I think these strikes and what they stand for, mean more than watching a couple shows each week, im not going anywhere
Well there goes basically any reason to continue being a patron as those are the shows I have this membership for. See you all wherever this resolves I suppose.
You might want to keep the cheap poll tier at least. Depending on how the next few days go, things could get interesting and more varied than usual with several new show polls in the near fuute
Imagine paying $15 to watch someone protest lmao
Read someone protest* 😂
Nice one now I hope you guys consider doing more Naruto a week until this is all settled then you can go back to one a week. A guy can dream!
On the bright side, this means we could possibly get the commentary series up and running again. Perhaps start with the Star Wars prequels?
I heard from actors and writers that people are canceling subscriptions to “help” those on strike. But they are doing the opposite now the shows they are being paid for aren’t making the money they were, since people thought “I’ll get rid of this and show them”, but what that really does is lessen the bargaining power these people have now. When negotiations come around, they will look at the profit provided from those streaming services for those shows and say huh not nearly as popular as previously thought goodbye so continue to support the shows you love. There are many more people besides writers and actors that still depend on those paychecks so please don’t add to the fire.
ya actions speak louder than words seems like blind wave secretly supports the studios doing this
Why do non-SAG members need to respect SAG strikes, when SAG-AFTRA themselves, as non-WGA members, weren't respecting WGA strikes for the last 70 days. If a non-SAG influencers/creator is a scab for covering SAG struck productions. That same logic would suggest non-WGA SAG-AFTRA members were all scabbing for 70 days by continuing work on WGA struck productions. Where was this anti-non-member-scab energy when it was only WGA striking? Non-SAG Influencers and Creators getting galslit by SAG.
By contract SAG was not allowed to strike solidarity with the WGA. If they weren't working they could join on the picket line (as many did), but if working they contractually were not allowed to walk-off.
Lol thank god i didnt pay the full 15 this month cause i would have been scammed the last week. Its dope their doing this obv, but the fact theyre not gunna notify everyone this week and start next month is insane cause thats just not what people payed for and is ASKING for conflict.
Good on ya guys for supporting the SAG/AFTRA strike.
they say that. but them doing this actually hurts the writers and actors and gives the studios more bargaining power so wtf
Well it’s nice that you supporting ppl on strike but what about fellow members who pays for your content and waiting for it daily. It’s either respect for writers, when you honestly have nothing to do with their job and strike, or respect for ppl who paying for your content
it's literally something the union may have asked for, see their comments on cosplay/influencers/struck work etc, and they are just waiting for clarification.
I'm very happy u guys are staying strong w the union, but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't even more excited at the possibility of more Indian movie reactions like you guys were saying you wanted to do more of after RRR.
Oooh yes, I'd love to see them do that - a complete different vibe but Sardar Udham would be fantastic
Y’all should definitely have a plan in place. I respect the stance y’all are taking. But I can’t see the justification in just not releasing stuff people have paid for y’know. It’s almost a new month, why not just do this in 7 days or release the content that was slated for that time? And before people say, I did read the post and I agree. Although I respect it, I find it extremely weird for blind wave to make such a drastic move that is bound to lose them a lot.
And what about all the people that don't check for Patreon posts and just use the Blind Wave website? They're going to be completely out of the loop
How is the non-struck content going to be reacted to? If it's through streaming services wouldn't that defeat the purpose of what The Blindwave is doing? It's a bad look for content creators when they claim to support the strikers yet continue to use streaming services which is a big reason why the writers and actors are striking in the first place.
The guidelines that SAG has set out seem to say that using streaming services is fine, but promoting struck content is not. The question is, do BW's reactions fall under promotion or review? That's what they need clarity on. We can go back and forth about SAG's guidelines and their merits, but that has nothing to do with this pause
Love your content and how amazing your hearts are! Staying true to what you all feel is right, is all you can do. Times like these, Solidarity is strength and I’ll happily stand through all of this. 🫶 I’ll just rewatch of some of yalls other reactions in the meantime!
They say message them here but then don’t reply
Dealing with a few hundred messages isn’t gonna get done right away
If Blind Wave is in the SAG guidelines and this pause is for a while you know what this means... once a day One Piece reactions! In all seriousness though even though I'm a little negligent on the situation, but from what I've seen and heard can definetly respect your guys decision.
THEY ARE NOT APART OF SAG
All those guidelines are for sag members it literally makes 0 difference for these guys to do this there's guidelines sent out for this exact t scenario
That's not true at all. There's conflicting info regarding content from influencers and reviewers/critics and which category Blind Wave falls in, ergo the pause while waiting for clarification. www.sagaftrastrike.org
Can these guys be any more humble and have amazing hearts. I'll always support you guys no matter what. Been here 3 years and not stopping now just cause of this. All power to you guys ❤️❤️❤️❤️
they're doing it because they don't want to be barred from working on movies/tv lmao
Oh no, now I'm going to be forced to watch the Normies
underrated comment
Sheesh. GGs boys
cooking with blindwave strike edition in the meantime?
I support and respect y'all's decision, but that being said, I just re-subscribed at the $15 tier yesterday specifically for a couple shows you're doing now (Always Sunny, Lasso in particular), so as soon as I saw this post I swear the Curb Your Enthusiasm music kicked in in my head.
ya its weird I support SAG too but them doing this is supporting the studios and hurting sag. less content = less views = less bargaining power for SAG & Writers
Awesome happy you guys are supporting the strike 💯
they say that but their actions support the studios
When life gives you lemons, make lemonade! Perhaps do a couple of European movies? You were still doing Connery's Bonds, weren't they Britain based? Or otherwise the French movie Amelie (Le Fabuleux Destin d'Amélie Poulain 2001) one of the most beautifull movies ever made (if youre up for it)
I get that people are annoyed and it's inconvenient but isn't that the whole point of a strike and solidarity? To show the value of the work and the need for fair compensation and isn't it better to support reactors/content creators that actually have principles and stick to them. Unionisation is the way working people and communities leverage their power, SAG isn't just rich celebrities it's huge swathes of performers who don't even qualify for healthcare. Every show I watch Blind Wave for comes under the list but SAG put out slightly unclear guidance for 'influencers', e.g asking 'influencers' not to cosplay struck productions etc, so it makes sense that they would want clarification. The whole point is the union have potentially asked for this and Blind Wave are clearly willing to accept the ire of a portion of their audience to actually stand for something. Feel disappointed ofc but accept some things are bigger than ourselves - 'Which side are you on?' and all that. Solidarity!
I don't know what the guidelines are for reactors, or reactions in general, but what you said reminded me of what Bob Odenkirk said on the picket lines a couple days ago when someone asked him his opinion on SAG-AFTRA members requesting a waiver to promote pre-existing projects (with the heavy speculation that the actor being referred to is Tom Cruise for the new MI movie, from what I've read): "It's a strike. Be on strike. You lose. We lose. Everybody loses. That's tough shit."
OK - sidebar if someone can answer for a Discord newbie - if I cancel the subscription, do I still get to see Discord? I'd like to be able to stay and monitor the situation to see when it resolves.
Discord is open to anyone. The only thing you may lose is the role for the patron channels.
You guys doing this knowing you'd get backlash on Patreon shows a real strength of character. Do what you think is right!
Seems Extremley Extra like this is so obviously just fear of not understanding whats going on. Love you guys tho. Your not a reaction channel in california you dont need good relationships with those people. I have faith theyll see this is too extreme quickyly
What if they just want to support and not doing it out of fear?
Man so many people in these comments are unaware of what SAG AFTRA is asking for and its impact. They are encouraging people with any amount of influence to not promote struck content in ANY way, including cosplays and other fan content, unless it falls into very specific categories of content. Asking for clarification helps Blind Wave to know if what they are doing is considered to be a part of the strike or something they can continuing doing. Showing solidarity by following the asks set out by SAG AFTRA and WGA to others is one of the best ways to put pressure on the situation for it to be resolved quicker and with a more favorable outcome. Sure it doesn’t seem like much, but it actually can make a massive impact. Nothing wrong with deciding to cancel your patreon in the meantime since they are unable to provide the content you subscribed for, but claiming they are not actually doing anything with their choice to wait until further clarification and then decide from there is just factually incorrect.
im in sag ur so wrong
Solidarity!! I’m with you guys 100%
It's clear that some of the commenters haven't read the entire post, or paid any attention to the info that other reactors/reviewers are getting directly from SAG-AFTRA. Or are simply selfish. As a popular channel, their promotion of struck projects, or lack thereof, is important to the YouTube film/TV space. The pause makes sense. Think before you type. Blind Wave is doing the right thing. You, the consumer, will be fine. Watch something else. Read a book. Play a game. Find something to do while they get the clarification that they need.
Seriously HBO and Disney have both reached out to them to help promote certain shows before. Their voice matters in all of this and I really appreciate them being willing to do this despite the risks.
So what would constitute non-struck content and how quickly will you guys move towards having a list of such content?
Look, I support your decision and I'll continue with my Patreon membership, but I'm confused. Maybe it was discussed in one of the videos. Are you all members of SAG-AFTRA? If yes, I get that. If not, is this just in solidarity? And why these shows - because of certain studios? I would think all of the shows would be affected because anything from overseas is generally still distributed via a US company that is likely owned by a studio somewhere if you dig into it. Also, does striking off old shows (Batman TAS ended in the 90s?) help? Is it because of royalties that WB gets via the streaming service you're watching it on? And does this mean you're only pausing ongoing reactions and not pulling other older content - I'm rewatching and watching Rebels and Clone Wars and your reactions go hand in hand with that.
Not all shows that are currently reacted to fall under the current contract that is on strike so those are outside the bounds.
Yeah as much as I love you guys this strike your doing doesn't really support anything. Gonna pull my patreon. Good luck.
After you get clarification from sag and if they say you should stop would it be possible to get a refund for patreon? I just resubscribed a two days ago and I am really only here for ben10
This is what happened to me. Bought top tier just for Ted Lasso and here we are
Was only here for Community and Always Sunny. Was fun while it lasted have a good one fellas. The shows won't be coming back.
It is just a temporary pause until they get further clarification, and they intend to continue once things improve
Blind Wave? More like Based Wave
true and real
I found you guys From your “The Flash” 2X08 reaction back in 2015 and will continue to be here even if it becomes indie/non struck content reactions and or other content, as long as it’s The Crew of Blindwave doing their thing We’re all entertained❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Why you make there strike about you guys if anything doesn't that put pressure on sag and the riders guild ?
I spent $15 just for this? Really?
For what?
Return of cooking? Return of D&D or board games? Return of skits/shortfilms? Either way best of luck withstanding the inevitable storm your integrity will bring about (sincerely).
all of these would be great!
Y'all are amazing! This couldn't have been an easy decision but I'm proud of you all and grateful for this stance! I feel it's the right thing to do! I'll happily continue to support you during this time just as you are supporting the labor force 💪! This applies to all labor, but as content lovers and creators it's in all of our best interest to support each other right now, and all workers who aren't fairly compensated for their efforts, care, skill and time. Just like it's important (for those of us that can do so responsibly) to continue to support you all during this time also. I wasn't planning on departing anytime soon, and this only makes me more sure that I'm supporting the right folks! Thank you so much! ♥️
thankfully i dont watch any of these shows so i dont need my money back ...
you guys are awesome! would also love to see more non-reaction content in the meantime while you figure it all out. I’ll be here whenever you do <3
Maybe naruto twice a week now?
Or 7 😂 I’d be cool with either really.
U know what doesn't come under SAG's guidelines Indian movies that's all i am saying
I'm gonna have to take up smoking
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 What a farce
How so?
Pretty sure they will clear up what they can and can't do before people have to cancel subscriptions..people are jumping the gun. Give them a couple days.. it's not like it's a daily or weekly subscription.
Exactly. I don't think people read the entire post. Or perhaps they failed to understand. I'll admit to having read it twice.
“The hardest choices require the strongest will.” Respect blind wave 🫡
Hoping we finally get a Spy x Family reaction from the crew in the meantime! more Indian cinema would be great as well
I guess this is a cool gesture but I don't understand yall are not a part of SAG also this ain't gonna help at all and seems very pointless studios don't give a shit about reaction channels
It could cause complications in the future if any of them do try and join SAG so better to be safe than sorry
This is a great game plan and I’m so happy to see it. Thank you for making the hard descisions!
I respect the decision, can't have been easy to do. Hopefully this means we'll get some more anime reactions the fill the gaps
Respect you decision, but like others honestly don't understand it. SAG has instructed people to support already made content like Oppenheimer and Barbie, even to market and promote it. I feel that reaction content puts more eyes on an already made product that would support the actors and those that made it. Mentioning the strike on every video like you have been dong would have been the more reasonable approach.
I guess it depends on how "support" is defined. I was under the impression that SAG has instructed their members NOT to promote struck shows + movies. I'm not clear on how residuals work (or if that would even apply here, but it's certainly a topic that SAG has mentioned), but Barbie is already in theaters. Wouldn't that mean people got paid already?
Props on blind wave for supporting SAG, and since anime is getting more reactions I might be in the minority but JJBA (JOJO’s bizarre adventure) might be good even though it might be a long endeavor
Yea they can’t handle any long shows so anything more then 100 episodes is a no go
Big ups for sticking by your principles. If this strike goes on for a while and you can't react to much American content, I recommend getting real weird with it. Do an international sampler platter of stuff not just from Japan. Telenovelas, K-dramas, even Turkish shows are pretty popular in some corners of the internet. Bollywood and Nollywood both have a lot of interesting stuff and a lot of it is even in English. Or you could finally give into the zealots and watch 70 episodes of Naruto a week or whatever they want.
seconding this! the weirder the better haha
Yall rule. This rules. I fully support this decision. Thank you for trying to get clarification. I hope they get some clearer messaging out. I've heard journalists are getting similarly conflicting guidelines.
I'll have to unfortunately cancel my Patreon in the meantime. As someone who isn't into anime, everything I watched for is being paused I'll be back in the future, good luck
Same hounestly
I understand your position completely - don't understand how it would be considered to be crossing the picket line on content that has already been created/produced/published publicly. so I hope you are able to get that clarified in your favor soon. However, I too don't have a reason to pay Blind Wave for content since you aren't producing it right now. Trickle-down effect of the strike I suppose. Good luck!
I think you misunderstood. No one is forcing you to pay for a service, but Blind Wave isn't asking you to give them money for nothing. For starters, the list of shows they mentioned are only on hiatus until SAG gets back to them. Some of those shows might stay on hiatus, perhaps all of them will, perhaps none of them will. It all depends on what SAG tells Blind Wave. Anything that goes on a temporary hiatus after they hear from SAG will be replaced by new content. So, in other words, you wouldn't be paying for nothing. That doesn't mean you have to stay for content you didn't sign up for, and I wouldn't blame anyone who leaves for the time being. It's a tight economy for everyone.
I respect this decision. Please consider adding "Bleach" anime to your schedule. This is the perfect time to start it.
they won't add another long running sereies, it will just block their schedule.
(Anything that gets me faster naruto reactions), but I'm sure we all stand behind whatever decision is made here.
Really appreciate this, guys 💙
You guys are still allowed to react to these tv shows this is honestly stupid I’m cancelling my patreon
Grow up
So then you probably won't cover Ahsoka when it comes out huh?
Going to say it, fair enough. You guys what you feel is best. If you need new shows maybe bleach?
I understand, however I will have to cancel my patreon subscription as the shows I am following all all now struck hence won't make financial sense to maintain the subscription at this time. Thanks.
I may do the same before the end of the month myself. It may be a good idea to at least keep poll-level rights instead of cancelling it completely, though. Depending in how the next few weeks go, it could be a really interesting and unusual time to vote on future things for the crew to react to that they wouldn't usually prioritize.
We got your back! If you do need to pause some series, I'd love to see DnD make a return!
I'm guessing Amazon is one of the struck companies... right? I was hoping we would get Vox Machina S2 soon.
Perfect timing for a one piece reaction
More original content would also be great
can we watch Mr. Robot then, its old as fuck now?
I would love to see you guys cover more K-dramas beyond Squid Game. If you have to pause the struck shows, this would be a good opportunity to explore content that’s not Western and less white.
Juustooo esto necesitan!!
I get it but I'm bummed as I was really looking forward to episode 1x8 of Ted Lasso. Hope you're able to figure out the plan soon.
I was looking forward to it for a whole week. Ugh.
Now would be a good time to go back and continue some of the shows you've done in the past that have gotten more seasons.
Bring on the anime 😆. I'm glad you guys are making this stance and are being passionate about the strikes.
disappointing? this is based as hell, I just gained a lot of respect for y'all!
Much respect guys, maybe this will allow you to bring back game night?
Regardless of the outcome, I'm still supporting y'all 100% for the work you're putting in to elevate the struggles of union workers. Thank you! We'll still be here when you guys are able to come back!
No worries here, do what you need to do I can wait as long as it takes cos when it's all over it will be a good result for everyone and we get to binge on your content. 👍🏿
While I understand this I think for now I'm going to lower my tier
I may do the same before the end of the month. It may be a good idea to at least keep poll-level rights instead of cancelling it completely though. Depending in how the next few weeks go, it could be a really interesting and unusual time to vote on future things for the crew to react to.
This actually rules, I haven't seen any other channels do this. Definitely clarify with SAG-AFTRA though
How is this gonna help they aren't part of SAG
Doing the right things is often doing the hard things. Huge respect for this.
While I agree with the crews decision to support the writers strike, I have to cancel my Patreon subscription in this case. I can’t justify the extra costs while not receiving any product in return. I will continue supporting them on YouTube as I’ve done for nearly 5 years now.
They'll still be releasing content just not the shows they're doing currently. Probably more anime and indie shows.
Tough decision but I respect the hell out of it and you guys. Much love to all of you.
Obligatory double drop Naruto comment...
I thought if said struck companies haven't paid you to promote, you are not promoting. I hope you get clarification soon.
Or have they transitioned to Boycott? That's when I can see this being a problem.
I mean I get it, but I’m out until it’s back
Understandable, hope everything works out, sad about the Alien Force reactions, but I understand this is a serious matter both on and off the channel.
I appreciate the update, I may end up haveing to cancel my subscription since I'm only watching Ben 10 with you guys at the moment so depending on the outcome. But hope you guys are able to get things sorted and going well on your end
Time to up Naruto to 5 times a week then 😉 but seriously this is a solid move by you guys. Respect. But seriously, more Naruto.
More people need to like this😂 one can only hope
Brilliant work guys, thanks for supporting the strikes ✊
they say they support it but them doing this HURTS SAG and supports the studios more
Thank you to hear your thought and plan on this. And as always for other comment, remind to not piss at the worker who fought for their right, it the big studio corporate that make this happen.
I mean this is basically all their content lol. Do they even react to anything outside of these at the moment? Guess naruto and ass class the only reactions left
Well they can start other shows
Has Blind Wave contacted the SAG for a clear answer?
Did you read above?
Saves me $15 I guess
Completely understandable, I hope everything works out for you guys!
Really appreciate all the effort you guys are going through to stand in solidarity with the strikes. I know this can’t be easy and must be extremely stressful so thanks.
