This was a change. From the Manga there they were eventually each able to open the door except for Leorio who was able to open 2.
I have no idea why they changed that. It's so weird to leave something like that out. Later on when Gon is able to pull off all kinds of strenght feats it would be more justified and clear since you know that he can bench 2 tons.

ok just to make things really clear whilst spoiling as little as possible this is not one of those anime where the main character is the strongest so its best not to assume gon is going to just be op compared to everyone else.
