The name Zero, I always thought, was keeping in line with the Empire's naming scheme of conquered nations and people. Thinking of themselves as 1's and fallen foes as 2s - 11s. Calling himself Zero puts him above even the Empire.

Alright... I guess I'll keep repeating this. Lelouch isn't a half ANYTHING. His mother is a commoner but that's it... it doesn't mean he's a half something. This is how the Britannian Royal Family works, everyone in the family has a nobility particle in-between their first and last name to signify who their mother is. They are all 100% Britannian!
