A Week of Marquee Moon - begins tomorrow
Hi everyone,
Hope you’re all doing well! I realise it’s been a while since I last posted, but I needed to take a bit of time off to recharge over the summer. But I’m back with what could well be the most ambitious project I’ve ever undertaken on my YouTube channel. Over the next week I’m going to be breaking down an all-time classic of alternative guitar music: the song Marquee Moon by Television.
This has taken quite some time to put together: lots of research, transcribing, practising, recording the backing track etc. But it’s very much been a labour of love and I hope this series does some kind of justice to the incredible music of Television.
Rather than cram everything into a single video, I thought I’d take a more detailed approach and spread things out over 7 or 8 videos, and create a kind of free to watch Marquee Moon course. There’s going to be a full 10 minute performance and then I’ll go into all of the riffs, solos and extra parts in separate videos. I’ll also be detailing the gear I used while making these videos. Any guitar player is going to get so much out of studying this song.
Tuscany Workshops Update
In other news, there are still a couple of spots left to fill in the second of my two upcoming Tuscany workshops, October 5-11. The previous workshop in May was an amazing experience all round and I’m looking forward to doing it again. I realise it’s getting quite close now, but if anyone would like to spend a week hanging out and playing guitar in the gorgeous Tuscan countryside you can message myself or Richard who is organising the workshop with me at PBworkshops@mail.com, and we can fill you in with all the details, cost etc. and make it happen. If you’ve not seen my original workshop post which contains some more detailed information about what to expect, you can find it here. -

That's it for now. See you for Marquee Moon, Day 1 tomorrow morning. Then there’s going to be a new video every day this week. It's going to be a lot of fun, I hope you enjoy watching!

Awesome choice Adrian -- I got to see them play this (with support from Blondie) back in May 1977 in Newcastle. Still one on my favorite songs. Always wanted to learn to play...
YAY!
Glad you got a good break in and I'm excited to dive into Marquee Moon! Cheers
Welcome back. Hope you had a great break. My all time favourite - what could be better.
Got to see Television live a few years back in Portland, Oregon. It was the culmination of a life long dream. I picked up the first album shortly after it was release after reading a glowing review somewhere. Looking forward to the videos this week. Exciting!
Hi Adrian, you need to recharge from time to time. Marquee Moon, what can you say, thanks so much. It's right up there for me as one of the greatest Guitar centric songs ever recorded. I was lucky enough to live in a place that had a FM radio station that played it when it was released, and I was awe struck when I heard all those years ago. Still have the Vinyl. Cheers Pete.
Incredible. I’ve been working on learning this song recently but hit a wall. So excited for this. Heaps good.
Don Rich and Tom Verlaine, only you Adrien. I’ve been a fan of Television since “I fell into the arms of Venus de Milo” in the early 1980’s. This will be fun.
Fantastic idea!
Sounds great Adrian - looking forward to the immersion!!
Great Great choice, Adrian.
Looking forward to finding out all the things I've been doing wrong all these years !
I've been hoping that you would do this Adrian. Coincidentally I have just been working on Venus so this has come at the perfect time. Thanks so much.
I'm in Texas and a bit to broke to make it to Tuscany but I'm fucking psyched on this marquee moon series!
This has long been my top request, but I was always hesitant to make the request because it seems like such a monumental challenge. Thank you!
I no longer have any excuse for half assing "Venus" like I've been doing all my life.
If anybody is on the fence about Tuscany, here's a plug to go for it. The first one was a totally great experience in many ways. One of them was getting to know Adrian a little bit, making all his Patreon posts more fun and interesting.
Wow
Glad you took some time off to recharge, Adrian. I'm sure it's a lot of work to come up with and produce quality videos week in, week out. Looking forward to Marquee Moonday!
Thank you. A brilliant idea and a worthy subject.
Awesome i've been waiting for this for years. Will give it my full effort for once!
One of my choices I’d suggest to you so I’m made up! New guitar too 😊
My all time favourite guitar track. Thank you.
Incredible news Adrian! Thank you so much for the time and effort you put into these tutorials
I'm really looking forward to this. The work and skill you put into your projects is always fantastic. And such a great piece of music!
Great guitar playing in that song!
Quite a comeback! Can’t wait.
On your way to do the full Marquee Moon album!! Love this!
Oooh, I bought that on 12" single the day it came out! I remember how the darkness doubled. One of those occasions - like Sparks Number One Song in Heaven - when a 12" single really was worth it, the increased sonic welly at 45 RPM was marked compared to listening to the 33 RPM album.
Christmas is coming early this year! Woo hoo...thank you Adrian!
Brilliant Adrian Marquee Moon is a masterpiece that merits your deep dive exploration of all of its nooks and crannies
Dream coming true.
This is why I subscribe!!!
Amazing! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
