Dilophosaurus | Creature Stat Block
Today's 5E creature stat block continues our delve into all things dinosaurs! The Erenel Dilophosaurus is designed to mimic the Jurassic Park concept with an intimidating frill and poison spit.
The Erenel Dilophosaurus is a carnivorous dinosaur that gets its name from the two thin crests of bone on the top of its head. Unlike other dinosaurs, the Dilophosaurus has a poisonous gland within its jaws. Although they can administer the poison through a simple bite, they can also spit the poison on prey, causing temporary blindness.
Like a frill-necked lizard, the Dilophosaurus has an extendable frill around its neck. This frill typically lies retracted but can be unfurled in diameter, easily more than triple the width of its head, and rattled to intimidate its prey.
A Dilophosaurus features cryptic coloration and is suited for camouflage in its preferred environment. It inhabits forested areas and thus has a forest-green body with darker green splotches on the back, legs, and crests. The frill is brilliantly colored; when flushed with color, it appears bright yellow with intricate red patterning.
