Ankheg Sentinel - Creature Statblock

Looking for a "boss encounter" to challenge a low level party? 

Larger and aggressive than the smaller Ankheg, Sentinels are huge insectoids that burrow underground and attack from below. An ambush predator, they use their tremorsense to approach unsuspecting prey, exploding quickly from below and attacking with massive claws.

Ankheg Sentinel's have an acidic digestive system that they use to their advantage when hunting. They can spray this digestion in a 30-foot line or "spit" a glob that retains adhesive properties to track down fleeing targets. When the hardened carapace is damaged, this same acidic substance leaks from the shell, melting everything unlucky enough to be too close. 

When threatened, the Ankheg Sentinel will unexpectedly burrow underground and is wise enough to collapse the tunnel behind them preventing pursuit.
