The Mindshard Blade is a longsword carved from a rare psionic crystal found in the deepest and darkest reaches of the world. Only one such crystal was ever recovered, unearthed from the ruins of a settlement whose inhabitants had been enslaved by brain-consuming aberrations. The survivors discovered that the crystal could disrupt psychic influence and even grant psionic capabilities to those who remained near it.
The task of shaping the crystal fell to Harbet Orebane, a dwarven craftsman renowned for working stone and gemstones. Harbet spent months carefully grinding and carving the material while shielding his thoughts from the strange whispers that surfaced during his work. When the final edge was cut, he asked only that the blade be carried back into the depths against the creatures whose presence still lingered within.
