(Find Familiar) The Latcher | Creature Statblock

Who wants a void familiar that latches onto you, creating an additional arm? Check out the Latcher by downloading the PDF below or by visiting Erenel's World Anvil.

Navigating the world through their sense of touch, the Latcher relentlessly searches for a host to feed on. While a Latcher is a terrifying aberration to behold, with its wormlike body leading into a triangular toothed maw, it is not without benefit. The Latcher understands that the best way to continuously feed on a creature is to be useful. This instinct causes a Latcher to act as an additional appendage for those willing to bond with the creature.

Scholars believe Latchers are void parasites that attach themselves to aberrant creatures floating in the Black Sea of Nothingness surrounding Erenel. On the mortal plane, starved Latchers burrow into the depths of the world looking to form a bond in order to survive. However, Latchers engorged on the otherworldly ichor of power eldritch organisms are in great demand. The ichor drained from a fed Latcher can unlock parallel dimensions and even alternate timelines for those who know how to open the way.

Variant: Latcher Familiar

A Latcher can serve as a familiar to Warlocks who have been granted Pact of the Chain, forming a telepathic bond with its willing master. A Latcher could also be used as a Find Familiar, at the DM's discretion.
