Poll: What game next?

Time to give you all a quick update on what's been going on. I kinda disappeared after the last update dropped. Sorry about that. ^^"

First, a short recap of what I've been up to. If you just want to vote on the poll, please check below.

What have I been doing?

I have enjoyed a wonderful Christmas this year. Being a creator on Patreon, I usually feel guilty for taking time off, but this time I got to really enjoy the holidays with my family and relax. I even got to play Eternum. I freaking love that game.

Taking some time off has already greatly helped me think of some new ideas for the next game I want to make. I think I've narrowed it down to three ideas (I'll link them below). I really want to go all out this year. I just need a little bit of a direction and this is where you guys can help!

Poll

If all goes according to plan, I hope to finish Camp Mourning Wood in June this year (which seems appropriate considering the game takes place in June). However by that point I hope to have already begun work on the next project, so that there isn't such a big gap between games.

That means getting all of my artists up to speed, writing a game design document, working out systems and so so SO much more. Now I can start running around like a headless chicken or I can ask you guys what you'd like to see next. So here's a breakdown.

Genie Trainer

Concept: You play as the former Head Counselor of Camp Mourning Wood as he arrives in Archeleaus. Here he meets a Genie Girl lost in the desert. Together they must learn the endure the harsh conditions, build up a caravan of survivors and uncover the mysterious past of the Genies, the Kingdom of Ash and the myth of Wishing Magic.

Themes: Sexual Training, town building, resource management. Focused on Main Character and Main female lead (similar to games like Orange Trainer, Princess Trainer, etc.)

The Roles we Play

You move back to your old home town and find that people have gone mysteriously missing, including your estranged mother. The mystery turns supernatural when you are dragged into a fantasy world that seems to obey the same rules as the game your mother used to work on. Now you and your crew of cute girls need to switch between the real world and different fantasy worlds to uncover clues on what happened to the missing townfolks and what part your mother has to play in all of it.

Themes: Light on gameplay mechanics, mostly focused on story & relationships, different realms (sci-fi, fantasy, western, pirate, shogun etc.), harem / romance

Archeleaus Academy

You are invited to come study in our world's first magical academy. Here you will take lessons, explore the (seemingly endless) castle, learn spells, hunt for secrets, make friends and try to figure out why a demonic force known as the WAR is haunting the darker reaches of the castle and how to stop it.

Themes: School setting, learn spells, exploration, visiting other (magical) worlds, getting into mischief with your friends, harem but with optional romance route

Other...?

If none of these three options resonates with you, then please drop me a comment below. I'm always curious to hear what you guys have to say. Suggestions are welcome!

And with that, this post has gone on for long enough. I hope you all had wonderful holidays and ate some good food. More posts from me soon =)

I like The Roles We Play the most, but honestly I kinda want to know more about the backstory of the camp! Sometimes I wish there was a game mode without the monsters and this camp had even more life/story on its own! Like maybe back when Katy was a counselor by day and musician by night?

I like 1 or 3, it seems like you put alot of work into the world you made, i would be happy to see a spin off game

I like the three options but since I also like Camp Mourning Wood I'd say you could take a completely different route where you combine some aspects of all three of the options and have the current main character go to the other world to figure out why and how everything happened and add a mystery aspect to it while also having a fantasy world setting along with him going to an academy in that world and rebuilding a destroyed place there for the town building aspect and other exploration stuff with that world having portals that connect to other worlds. This way you have a little of everything and make most people feel included. I get that this would be a lot, and it would take a long time to make, so I'm not expecting you to read and like this idea.

As others have said, all 3 sound appealing, but The Roles We Play sounds most interesting to me now. I have too many games with complicated gameplay mechanics and need some more story driven games.

I'm on the same page a John Hall. I think that The Roles We Play is the best of the set (even tho all three are great set-ups). In order I think best to not so best is The Roles We Play, Archeleaus Academy and then Genie Trainer (IMHO). The only thing I can think of is a Harem game that doubles as a City Builder that you have to keep the Harem part secret until you can 'bring the girl into the fold' so to say.

All three options appeal, but for me I think The Roles We Play just has the edge.

Archeleaus Academy gives us a chance to expand a universe that you made!
