Having just turned 56, the finiteness of life is becoming clearer by the day. I'd never thought of a TBRBD. I'll have one soon. Maybe just 5 at first.

Wow, I really appreciate this. It's funny, I often reach for supplementary material and I've always felt a little embarrassed by that, like I "should get it" all this without looking up more. But at the same time, I also just really enjoy the deep dive. My adhd brain craves context, lol. So thanks for normalizing it!

Great show, Clifford! Yes, I’m 55 years old and have 12 bookcases. Will not read all before death…it’s REAL! 😂. I’ll start the TBRBD list this week! (Hopefully they’re already on those bookcases)

Wow! Great insights into what we should really consider in a reading life. I have recently been going through books I own that I haven’t read yet and books on my currently reading list that I started 2-3 years ago and never finished that are just eating at me I removed a couple from the list and will maybe come to them later. And it’s liberating to not feel like im forcing myself to read something I am not enjoying or learning from as much as I thought i would. - I like how you mentioned “what you read defines who you are, so be careful where you put your time”. I also like the idea of having a list of 10 books to be read before death list - ie books that I want to really understand and maybe read more than once. I also like what you said to have a vision of where you are and where you want to go in your reading life. I have a friend that would benefit from this video, I’ll suggest your book review channel to him he is always suggesting books to me to read some I agree with and read and others he suggests feel like a waste of time. And yea lol we are all gonna die and have a limited amount of time to read. I have always been interested in books and reading being a double major in English and Spanish, and I work in a library so it has become my lifes work. I can also vouch for the money aspect for me personally devoting so much to reading and literature is not making me rich lol. For my to be read before death list - I think my focus will be on Latin American literature and books in Spanish, I have particular authors whose works I have studied in depth and read about them with lots of supplementary material, that I want to explore further.

Thanks for the kind words David, liberating is a great word choice, I can relate. It certainly helps that you work in a library, that's awesome. I'd love to read more books in Spanish, please let me know of any that stand out for you.
