Better Than Friday - 224
G'evening!
Hope you're all well and had a fine holiday.
Thank you very much for your continued support, and wishing you all a Happy New Year.
1. Spanish author to read - Camilo Jose Cela's 'The Hive' (Paid Link)
A book that takes place after the Spanish Civil War.
Censored in Spain, Cela had to publish it in Buenos Aires.
The Amazon description compares him to Celine and Malaparte. I'm very interested.
Cela won the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1989.
A YouTube channel dedicated to recounting the true stories of Soldiers, Natives, Outlaws, and Lawmen from the Wild West. Unreal. So cool. Brutal stuff.
I'm on that kick after finishing Butcher's Crossing today.
3. Homer Simpson is working on a flat-tax proposal and accidentally proves God doesn't exist.
Classic.
"Good as Gould" hahaha
4. Camilo José Cela interview on 'A Fondo'
The author from #1
You can find the English subs by clicking the gear icon.
5. Current 93 with Nick Cave on vocals
Hypnotic and beautiful track.
Good winter music.

Happy New Year Cliff to you and your family!
Happy New Year to you and yours G J!
Happy new year Sir Sergeant. Sir Sergeant, do you have in your possession any books written by portuguese authors? If not I would be glad to send you some.
Happy New Year! Yes I have a few however I'd love to know what you'd recommend.
I get on Western kicks every few months. Butcher's Crossing was a tad disappointing just because I had such high expectations for it but was still a great book. I did finish Lonesome Dove this year, which was a long-time reading goal for me. I think I've seen more people say it's their favorite book of all time than any other. I wouldn't place it that high, but it was definitely a journey worth taking.
Same re Butcher’s but still solid. Will read Lonesome Dove, thanks for heads up. Warlock by Oakley Hall is definitely on my list.
Best wishes for a great new year!
Thanks Robert, and to you as well!
