Better Than Friday - 210
Salutations everyone -
I've got a thousand-yard stare from walking around Ikea.
Does anybody else get panic attacks in that place?
Hope you have a great weekend, review of 'The Moviegoer' coming soon.
Have a terrific weekend and read something damn good if you can.
1. Shakespeare I'm overdue to read: Macbeth
I'm not able to get to it this Halloween season, but maybe you can.
Recently gifted to me by a kind friend and poet, David Polk.
2. T.R.A.N.S.I.T by Piet Kroon
An animated 1920's animation style noir with no dialogue.
I saw this in the theater, at Cinema 21 in Portland at an animation festival when I was a kid and the visuals have stuck with me for my entire life.
One of the most spectacular animated films I've ever seen.
3. Flamingos: A Marvelous bird
My wife informed me that flamingos were blown into our area due to Idalia, a rarity for Tampa Bay. She's been educating me on them and provided the video and trivia below.
Do you know what they call a group of Flamingos?
A Flamboyance.
4. Bret Easton Ellis' The Shards is going to be a series directed by Luca Guadanigno
Fingers crossed. Review of the book coming soon.
5. This is great but I can barely listen to it.
For Fans of Sonic Youth...My Dad is Dead
Wait for it to kick in at 0:55
An obscure postpunk project from late 80's Cleveland Ohio.
Extremely depressing (think Giles Corey/Have a Nice Life level).
Remarkably fresh sounding.

I'm reading Blood Meridian for the third time, and I've got pale pastel highlighters!
Yes, PLEASE read Macbeth when you can. That's the one that made me fall in love with Shakespeare. I never really thought about it until now but I guess Macbeth was the first real piece of literature that truly affected me.
Indeed. I went into an IKEA once and I told my wife under no circumstances are we to ever enter there again. I have never since gotten so frustrated with a place
My idea of hell is Ikea. Horrible place.
