Better Than Friday - 204
Good evening everyone, wishing you a nice weekend with much reading.
Thanks very much for your continued support.
1. Currently Reading: Last Exit to Brooklyn by Hubert Selby Jr.
Long overdue. Great so far but Whuff...It's a rough one.
A very cool track from former Depeche Mode member Alan Wilder's experimental project...Wait till that sick synth drops at 2:50

3. "Tell the truth. The ego is never the truth."
When Henry Rollins became friends with Hubert Selby Jr.
This frightened me when I was a kid and it still does.

I’ve been meaning to pick up Last Exit for years but for what ever reason I just haven’t. I pick it up at the bookstore all the time and have every intention of buying it but never do. Dunno why. It’s funny I just finished The Black Dahlia last week. I’m a huge fan of L.A Confidential (both book and movie) so I gave it a go. It’s great. The pacing is solid. There is a bit of padding but it’s well written so it doesn’t really matter.
Can't wait. Thanks for heads up. I definitely recommend Last Exit.
I could only read part of Last Exit. Too intense. Right now I'm reading Helter Skelter, about the 1969 Charles Manson murders. Fascinating.
Dude I get it. Nice, been meaning to check that one out. Maybe I’ll review 👍 Been meaning to do The Black Dahlia by James Elroy soon
Thanks Cliff. I read Last Exit earlier on this year, certainly memorable. I must revisit it in the future. I just finished Djunes Barnes' 1936 novel Nightwood set in 1920s Paris. A short, modernist book which kind of works. Currently reading Arthur Koestler's novel Darkness at Noon (1940) about the incarceration of a man by a totalitarian regime, a regime that he helped to create.
