Better Than Friday - 200
Gooood evening ya'll, how are you?
Finished up 'The Revolt of the Angels' by Anatole France, review to come.
Have a great weekend, hope the weather is beautiful wherever this finds you.
Thanks so much for your continued support.
1. "Tough Without a Gun: The Life and extraordinary afterlife of Humphrey Bogart
Absolutely reading this one.
My wife was listening to a Bill Maher podcast with Jon Hamm of Madmen, and he recommended it.
What a strange track. 80's oddity.
3. Cormac McCarthy's Friend Dennis Francis
A great interview about McCarthy with a good friend of his from way back in Tennessee.
I guess John Sheddan, from 'The Passenger', was a real individual.
I can't get over how cool that band was.
Crowd is so great. That dude going nuts in the lower-right at 0:37.
Man, that's what it's all about.
Here's the original. The whole album is perfect.
Inspired by item #1: Classic Noir with Humphrey Bogart, Lauren Bacall, and Edward G. ("Myaaah, see?") Robinson.
Came across this fellow and was very glad I spotted him for more than one reason considering I was wearing flip-flops.
Washed up...ehhh Blowfish?

Lyin' there like you're tame!
Thanks, in particular, for this interview about McCarthy, man. Being so busy, I've found it hard to figure out how to honour the man's passing: I am now listening to "Suttree" as an audiobook (a revisit to that book). It works really well. A recommendation, if others find themselves as busy as I've felt recently, would definitely be "Suttree" on audio. And man! - I'm getting that Bogart book! Have you seen "High Sierra," Cliff? I just love how "tight" films were at that time. They're fun. The pacing is tight, the characterization is great . . . I would also read "In a Lonely Place," I think, and watch that film if you're going to review it!
Thanks for the recs man. No I haven't seen 'High Sierra' yet but will make a not to, I think I saw In a Lonely Place in the theater in LA actually. Yeah seriously they don't make them like they used to. I'll try to review that book one day. 'Treasure of the Sierra Madre' is another one of his I need to see.
That Brixton pixies show is one of my favourites. I regularly watch/listen to it all the way through (https://youtu.be/BzA3eCHI2ns).
Tame is definitely a highlight but check out Joey's solo on Vamos, Hang Wire is excellent too. Also I believe it's Joey's brother that comes out to play extra guitar parts. What a band
