Child of God by Cormac McCarthy PATRON ONLY EARLY ACCESS / AD-FREE
McCarthy's third novel, is the story of a cave-dwelling hillbilly necrophile roaming around the hills of Sevier County Tennessee in the 1960's.
Dark as hell, beautifully written, and occasionally very funny.
Not his best, but good for fans of his other work.

Your McCarthy imitation was on point.
Haha I appreciate that, thank you.
I have family in Sevierville as well. I used to go there often as a kid. Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge…smoky mountains, Dollywood water park lol I’m in love with that area. Stunning.
I read this book about ten years ago. I enjoyed it more than you did it seems, but, going with what you mentioned, I never met a Southern Gothic I didn't like. This was one of three McCarthy books Harold Bloom put among his list of the Western Canon, so, I guess he didn't either. Anyway, thanks again and I'm looking forward to your review of Flannery O'Connor. BTW, have you read any Eudora Welty yet?
I have not, I've been meaning to. Is there a title of hers you recommend?
