One hell of an essay, guys.
Many contradictions and all kinds of questions it opens up, but the valuable parts are very, very valuable.
For any of you who're into Nietzsche or Mishima, or trying to deal with the conflict and struggles life throws at you, no matter who you are, we all have to deal with Pain.

It's really too bad, as it doesn't seem like Jünger has at all been given his due in the English-speaking world. I feel like he will be looked upon in a similar light as Nietzsche eventually achieved, in time (notwithstanding the ever-persistent residue of bias and misattribution he's likely to share). I think that the more we take a harder look at ourselves as human beings and what we have wrought upon our world and ourselves, the more we'll find grit to be our most valuable quality (and infinitely nuanced as such). Hell, there's even recent research suggesting that the cultivation of personal grit, in particular, is our best shot at achieving some measure of success in our lives. Who knew, right? I can think of a few largely disregarded thinkers and authors, at least... I really need to read more of his work, as I've only read this and "Storm of Steel" thus far.
