Better than Friday - 123
Ola ya'll
Hope you have a great weekend. Here's some stuff to keep you entertained.
1. A Novel in the pipeline about Tango - Milongas by Edgardo Cozarinsky
Gorgeous looking book sent to me by Archipelago Books, I've never read Cozarinsky.
------------------------------------------------------------------
With an introduction by award-winning author Alberto Manguel, Milongas is Edgardo Cozarinsky's love letter to tango, and the diverse array of people who give it life.
From tango’s origins in the gritty bars of Buenos Aires, to milongas tucked away in the crypt of a London Church, a café in Kraków, or the quays of the Seine, Cozarinsky guides us through a shape-shifting dance’s phantasmagoric past.
In neighborhood dance halls vibrant and alive through the early hours of the morning, where young and old, foreign and native, novice and master come together to traverse borders, demographics, and social mores, “it is impossible to distinguish the dance from the dancer.”
As conspiratorial as he is candid, Cozarinsky shares the secrets and culture of this timeless dance with us through glimmering anecdote, to celebrate its traditions, evolution, and the devotees who give it life.

2. The most awkward striptease in cinematic history
But a great film.
3. Fantastic Turkish rock song rediscovered thanks to Connor
Turkish rock band, I heard this song nearly 10 years ago but couldn't remember the name, but I remembered the cover...Leave it to Conner to make the discovery and post it. Voila.
4. "Newly Excavated Burial Grounds in Egypt Reveal Ancient Mummies with Gold Tongues"
Reminds me that I need to read "The Egyptian Book of the Dead"
I mention these guys in the upcoming review of "My Week Without Gerard".
Ridiculous and grotesque Monty Pythonisms.
God I laughed at that reaction shot when that guy's pipe fell out of his mouth.
My neighbors.
