My wife reads to me while driving in the car, she doesn't like driving. We've finished 49 books this way in the past 10 years. She's currently reading In Search of Lost Time from Proust out loud to us after we finished the 850k word tome titled The Plum and the Golden Vase. Well, Christmas eve was going to see us on the road with my 34-year-old daughter for a trip of bird watching in New Mexico, we were traveling from Phoenix, Arizona. Instead of trying to drop her into Proust, we opted for Lord of Dark Places. We got halfway through the book on Christmas eve and finished it on the way home Sunday. The birds of Bosque del Apache south of Socorro, New Mexico were incredible while the writing of Hal Bennett was nothing short of astonishing. What an amazing journey that wrapped our holiday in a surreal blanket of discomfort and squirming. I just signed up for your Patreon because your review of Lord of Dark Places was the kind of present that Santa would have never delivered. Thanks.
my best friend and partner is starting a public access show called "just the articles" where she reads old Playboys. When I heard this guy had one story released in a 70s issue here I picked one up... you too could have a copy for about ten bucks. -W
Thanks for doing this, sounds like a must read. Apologies to others, I think I bought the last paperback on Amazon! Also I very much appreciate mentioning my beloved Swans!
