It’s in the mail!!
Appreciate your take on 'Chess Story' -- Zweig had a tendency to skirt around his endings in general. This book is not my favorite of his, but it is easy to see how it has become his standard port of entry. Of Zweig's various novellas and collections, I do think 'Beware of Pity' is the only one that truly transcends his limitations to reach a canonical status. Hope to see you return to Stefan again at a future date (his shorts are worthwhile as well.)
Well, you did it: You've inspired me to finish the first book in German I've read after far too many years. Wish the book were longer!
WOOOHOO!! finally I cannot wait to get this one. I have had the Amazon page up from the link on Better than Friday. Much appreciated Cliff. Keep up the hard work my friend. Look forward to catching up again. get that coffee!
The last time I watched one of your reviews, I ended up having to buy 6 new books because of all the similar authors you mentioned. I'm not sure I can afford to watch a new one just now...
I thought you read Beware of Pity by Zweig? I watched Queen’s Gambit when I was down with Covid and really liked it.
Bought it, haven't read it yet, looking forward to it though. Noted regarding Queen's Gambit, thank you!
