The best word to describe it is the Japanese word "Tsundoku", which is the phenomenon of acquiring reading materials but letting them pile up in one's home without reading them (yet). The term is also used to refer to books ready for reading later when they are on a bookshelf. I'm guilty of this.

Being a Pessoa fan, definitely check out Saramago's The Year of the Death of Ricardo Reis.

I had the chance to meet Rikki Ducornet a year after I graduated high school and she is without a doubt one of the sweetest human beings I've ever met, and Phosphor in Dreamland is one of the most bizarre books I've ever encountered. Also the singer of Steely Dan gave her his number but she lost it so he wrote a song about it.

Haven't read that particular book, but you REALLY have to read Le Carré! It's very, very good.

I am looking forward to hearing your thoughts on Pale Fire. Lolita was tough for me, but I was really entertained by Pale Fire. I’ve never read anything quite like it.
