This one is a must for me. What you said at the end about truth that can destroy us reminded me of the existentialists. Camus's philosophy of absurdism or perhaps Lovecrafts cosmic nihilism. That we're born into this world seeking out meaning and transcendence only to find a vast emptiness. Does that not tempt one to self annihilation or perhaps even insanity?
