I'm currently reading Michel Surya's biography of Bataille, which, on page 456, contains a reference to Bataille writing, "My work is only black and unbearable in its appearance." What do you make of that line?

Belated congrats on wrapping up Sexual Personae! Are there any plans for another deep-dive read-along series? Also, I always love it when Lynn’s insights make a cameo in your reviews. How much do the two of you share or discuss your literary interests behind the scenes?

Just finished Outer Dark by McCarthy. It was brutal. What books have you read that had some of the most disturbing prose that made you audibly say, “Fuuuucck.”? Also, how do you feel about stream of conscious novels? Just read Seven Samuari Swept Away in a River by Jung young moon. It’s a novel about the authors ’ time spent in Dallas and his swirling, tangent ramblings about the way Texans live life and operate in the state. It was hilarious. Especially his observations about the Texans he met with seasonal cowboy hats.
