Congrats on your success on this channel Cliff. I can only speak for myself but you really helped me develop my own taste in books, and many of the books I picked up based on your recommendation are among my favourites now. I revisit “The Book of Disquiet” every few months and sit in awe, wondering how many times I have absently ignored such a treasure of a book, gathering dust on a shelf in a book shop.. I might have never found it if it wasn’t for you. It makes my head spin to think that there are so many good books in this world and we’ll never get time to read them all. This is a very insightful video, we are so grateful to have you around. Seriously, thanks for everything. Btw, I’m reading a book called “Black Wings Has My Angel” by Elliott Chaze, I think you might enjoy it. It’s a NYRB edition (y’know, a good cover always helps), worth checking out if you have the time!

You're more than just a channel or a show, you're a Goddamned inspiration, you do great work for a great cause. I've met adults in my upstate NY area that literally can't write their own name, it's depressing and just downright lamentable. Kind of shocking to me. But, positive encouragement is the key to fixing that problem and you succeed amazingly at it. Keep being badass!

This video really struck a cord with me. Sometimes I forget how lucky I am to be able to consume all these wonderful works of art that so many others just don't have the ability to comprehend. Thanks for the wonderful video, mate.

Thanks for all the great videos and recommendations, Clifford. Have you thought about reading more Gaddis...? I recommend his second book, JR, it's unlike anything else in my opinion. Hope all is well...!

Congrats on three magnificent years, and thank you! Thank you for expanding my literary horizons. Thank you for inspiring me in more ways than what to read. Thank you for challenging my own thoughts and ideas. And thank you for just being cool. Excited for the future. A book recommendation that you've probably received a lot lately is Call Me By Your Name by André Aciman. Read it after I saw the film (which was great) and it tore a hole in my heart and filled it with melancholic reminiscences of loves past and dreams of loves to come. It is a visceral experience that transports you to the moments you've loved the most - it acknowledges the pain of those moments being lost, while highlighting their immeasurable value.

I agree completely, reading is incredibly important and especially in this day and age of instantly gratifying cat videos and social media feeds which seek to keep you scrolling forever. Reading books gives you the chance to go in depth with a topic that you have chosen and found interesting rather than having surface level abstracts of various ideas and concepts thrown in your face. It's an amazing feeling to sit down with a book and just have that be your single focus. Big congrats on 3 years mate!
