Great AMA — super insightful, thanks. I honestly think philosophy is a hidden treasure. For years I had way too much respect for it. But one day my curiosity won and I jumped in. What can I tell you…best decision ever. Coming from very humble beginnings, here’s my personal take on how to deal with this stuff: take it slow and slice it up. Definitely don’t read philosophy like prose. For example, when I tackled Heidegger’s “Being and Time”, I could only manage about 3–6 pages max per session. That book is insanely dense. But I kept going, bit by bit. At least that approach works well for me. But the most important thing: don’t put pressure on yourself. It’s not about racing through pages — it’s about (hopefully) getting to the core of the stuff.

Great advice Darius - thank you very much for that and your kind words. Yeah man I read ‘Being and Time’ over a decade ago and it was absolutely one of the densest pieces of literature I’ve ever read. I remember nothing haha

Poetry is a tricky one. For me, Bukowskis poems are the only one's I've gotten something out of. I might even say they're better than his novels.

Thanks for taking the time to answer! Yeah, philosophy is a great answer. I've dabbled here and there but it's such a dense landscape. As you said, the time it takes to properly get into that world can be overwhelming. Definitely need to find my way into French lit. I have a copy of Houellebecq's Submission on the shelf. Will try and make time for that this year.

Anytime man. Uuf that's a great, but rough one, just a heads up.
