Better Than Friday - 307
Good evening friends, the Mishima 'Sailor' review is in the can. Coming your way soon.
Hope you're having a good one.
Sun Showers today. Lots of meteorological drama.
Have a great weekend and thanks so much for making this show possible.
1. A kind book gift from S.Cook: Bruges-La-Morte by Georges Rodenbach
What looks like a mournful, haunting, Symbolist novel that inspired the source material for Hitchcock's Vertigo.
*Disclaimer: Wakefield Press sends me free books for review
2. The Getting Lit Podcast - How to Read
Recently went on this podcast for a chat. Good guys. I recommend it.
3. Louisiana Channel Interview with Bret Easton Ellis
Ellis discusses his literary history and process.
4. Henry Miller Interview from 1956
Nice interview. I thought his comments about the loneliness of modern man (in Part 2) were compelling.
5. Jean Luc Godard's handstand walk, while smoking, for Brigitte Bardot
Impressive, no doubt.

Our single annual pineapple that grows in front of our house. Gotta love Florida.

Looking forward to the Mishima review. Sailor is very likely my favorite book I read in the last ~year. I’d say favorite novel, since I also read Sun & Steel and that might take the cake
Thanks! Terrific isn't it? Glad you read it. Yeah Sun & Steel is my favorite, but Sailor is my favorite of his novels I've read so far.
Bruges-La-Mort should be right up your alley
Killer, looking forward to it.
