Looks like Miller is the winner
I echo the enthusiasm for Henry Miller. Definitely want to know your thoughts on his work!
Dude I've been waiting to hear your thoughts on Miller for so long. Just recently finished the tropic series and loved it (despite the facts it's a little antiquated). Def do Miller
Tropic of Cancer, hands down
Go with Miller man! Been wanting to read that book for awhile now and if it's chosen l'll have to :)
I would probably be more interested in the Faulkner. It's intriguing that you'd go for one of his lesser-discussed (on this side of the Atlantic, at least) titles. Also looking forward to your take on the Joyce, and seeing some poetry back on BTF.
Oh, and congratulations for tackling Joyce. The Portrait is scintillating with exhuberant young artistic pathos. A nice training for Ulysses.
I'd prefer Faulkner. I think Miller is just too immature in this books. Like in any of his books. Faulkner, on the other side, has a certain perfume about his narrative.
Tropic of cancer
Bring on the Tropical Cancer - I think we can expect great, great things from Monsieur Miller.
Tropic of cancer, that book hits you in a certain way and leaves a mark.
