This time I was really wishing for my name to come out of that jar haha Amazing, it really seemed to be an era worth dying for. People were connecting with each other and projects came out of their desire, their craving to create things (often while simultaneously destroying theirselves. Nowadays it really seems like all of the popular songs are moved by superficial interests and devoid of passion for art. A machine could do it (and maybe it is AI already). The relationships between those artists not only of punk rock but other (mainly rock) genres that hung out with each other while tripping their balls, sharing different things they knew of, playing together and creating new stuff out of pure chaos. There’s a book by Pamela des Barres, one of the groupies that got involved with most of those guys (weirdly taking a lot of pride in that), and even if many things she says in it seem to be contradicting, she definitely saw a lot of shit back in those days. It’s on my list, I don’t know if I’ll ever read it, but some of the excerpts were quite interesting.

I read this book on my breaks while working my first summer job as a kid. Changed my life.

Man, when You Can't Put Your Arms Round a Memory comes on as the credits start rolling, and later ascends into complete feedback at the end of the very last Parts Unknown episode...chills. I still miss Bourdain, would've loved to have gotten his perspective on the treatment of restaurant workers during the pandemic. His episode of the Turned Out A Punk podcast is worth checking out for more punk history and recommendations. Such a good song. Thanks for the review, Cliff!

Great review Cliff! I just added this one to my to be read list. I have loved punk rock music since high school. I was lucky enough to see The Misfits perform on Halloween night at the BB King Blues Club in New York City in 2009, one of the highlights of my concert going life. Also can’t wait to check out all the music links for this one as well!
