Interesting, I've never really read her very much up until now... I always found her rejection of French "postmodernism" a bit over the top but nonetheless perfectly understandable in the American "politically correct" academic context. It would be interesting to see her reaction to Catherine Millot's Lacanian book on transsexuality, Horsexe, which touches on her interest in the Great Mother. Melanie Klein's "Reflections on the Oresteia" also appears to be a major gap in her reading from a psychoanalytic vantage point. Curiously, if patricide and Oedipus was central for Freud, the father of psychoanalysis, then matricide and Orestes was central for Klein, the mother of psychoanalysis... Klein's piece, which you can find in her Envy and Gratitude is essential reading that often goes completely overlooked in feminist academic circles, and I would even say it's key to understanding the gap between French writers like Kristeva and Sollers and most of the English-speaking academic world. I might even go so far as to say that to my mind, the only thing that separates Klein from her more Frenchified followers is the overturning of Aeschylus's tragedy to reveal the essence of comedy itself, a comedy thankfully not lost on Paglia!
