Mixed Bag of Holding: A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms Review

No Jake makes me sad, but Trapp and SungWon makes up for it (almost 😉).

Storytime about Jousting: I worked the beer tent at one of the Scottish Games in Mississippi many years ago. One of those year they had some of the people from full metal jousting. ( A TV show jousting competition ). I thought it was going to be for show until I heard the first two people hit. It sounded like a car crash. Full speed. Wood splintering on steel. These people were wild. I saw two people breaking arm and one person get a lance lodged in their neck. ( Thankfully it was caught by their armor, but only barely. ) The winner of a competition was a lovely blonde haired woman.

PLEASE review the whole show!!

It never fails to make me chuckle how often they forget their own rating system.

I need more skaldova now

the beyondburglar is a historic pull

Naddpod ice cream flavor should include butterfinger bbs

As far as scoring goes for jousting, have they not seen a Knights Tale?? It explains the scoring right?

I was on autoplay and about halfway through I was like, damn why aren't they talking about the episode? I guess I should pay attention.

Started watching because of this episode and I'm obsessed! Been holding off on GoT because of spoilers I've osmosified through the cultural zietgeist, but I might need to watch it now regardless.

View crew for DND honor among thieves when???

View crew for DND honor among thieves when???

Fun fact! Oftentimes, prizes for winning jousts could include getting ownership of the losing knight's armor or horse, so that was a strong incentive to NOT cause any harm to the animal, since they were incredibly valuable assets that could become yours

A palomino is a color, not a breed of horse.

Now I have to rewatch this and keep an eye on the white horse

Just played Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 and theres a scene with an "airplane" flying by!!

CINCINNATI MENTIONED LETS GOOOOOOOOOOO

Coming back to this after watching ep 3 and boy, the gang did sure mention several things they want and fear from the show that came true immediately in the next ep

I've only ever seen 5 episodes of the original game of thrones with my current partner, and random tid bits while with my ex. I have no reference for anything

I'm so glad I'm not the only person who gets anxious watching hotd

The Guy who Plays Dunk is a Rugby Union Member turned Actor so I think he can fight

Any chance all of the live shows could be made into a collection

I swear I’ve listened to everything outside of COE tier, where is the dip-spit bit from

I love the review mixed bags. I started reading Bright Sword because of this podcast and also thought of Collum when I saw Duncan. I do think they would be buddies. I was kind of burnt out on fantasy TV shows after GOT and Witcher. I wasn't interested in watching this show until I saw clips of the dance scene online

If next Mixed Bag isn't more of this, it should be A Knight's Tale. AFAIK the horses don't get hurt at all and it's probably my favorite Ledger movie

I can't believe it took 8 minutes to get to the dick 😂

As a 6’4” person, it was a little infuriating hearing you half-pints shortsplain tallness The portrayal of Ser Dunc resonated strongly with me, as someone who has absolutely been the tall, quiet, awkward slouching guy that keeps attracting weirdos for some reason Also without a doubt, tall people probably get challenged more. I understand why you would think otherwise, but every man with a big ego and a small penis sees a tall guy as a challenge

I had to upgrade, that teaser. I needed to know more about the white horse! Is it a deva, is it justified!?

I've been avoiding watching this show because of how GoT ended and how bad I thought season two of House of the Dragon was. Hearing the 2crew talk about it has sold me on giving it a chance. I know its better for content if they watch stuff that is objectively bad and they really dont like and Murph plays the grump but its also really nice to hear them gush about something they actually enjoyed.

Nyetterbox?

21:58 Jake saying I think i could calm a horse and Murphy disgusted "based on..." absolutely got me. 🤣🤣

Is it too late to pitch "intros are nixed 2026?"

I cant bring myself to watch it. It was being written and produced by my favorite screen writer Steven Conrad and before they could get it over the finish line HBO took it, ground it up, and released it as hog feed under a different name. Check out the Amazon series Patriot to support my boy

Can you please review the entire season? Pretty please

I feel like I need to develop being more critical in my 40’s because I like everything. Sometimes I get distracted and don’t keep up with a show, but that’s more on me than anything, and there are things I really like sometimes.

I don’t think George is going to do his homework gang

Please do more mixed bag reviews of Knight of the Seven Kingdom episodes! Would be so cool if you did one once all the episodes were out, or did one for each two episodes.

Never watched this show, and probably never will, but I will listen to you all talk about it at least 3 times.

my sisters dog is also afraid of water. jake’s dog solidarity

I know one of the founders of ben and jerry's. he isn't ben or jerry sadly lol but he is on the board of trustees. Do you guys have a pitch or something? He's an incredibly good guy. Super ethical. If there's a charitable bent it would be easier for me to bring it up to him...? For context, he's my half sister's stepdad. I probably have exactly the amount of influence you expect in that situation, but I could definitely get something in front of him. His name is Jeff Furman btw. He's pres of the ben and jerry's foundation as well.

It's funny cuz I've literally read the jousting scene in The Bright Sword a couple of days ago! The objective was to knock the other knight off their horse, or at least breaking the lance on their shield or body. Collum mentions that you should look at the opponent's shield but it's more so you wouldn't flinch from their lance's approaching tip. You also had to present your body as a target so you couldn't turn away from the impact. Apparently in the late middle ages (~1300+ CE) chivalry's rules and etiquette made knights frequently deny themselves any advantage so they could win from a losing position. So yeah, they loved an underdog back then, too :)

The phrase, Dick finger puppet lives in my head for free now

I want to watch this show! But also am a horse girl and am scared to watch the horses get hurt. 😅

Crazy that Emily pulled out a Wendy O Koopa's stinky feet reference like eight years after 8bbc

Okay, so it was a prosthetic especially made for him and the show

Not having lamb is crazy we have Pirinoa lamb in New Zealand that comes from a farm by the ocean. The meat tastes like sea salt its crazy. Anyway would love to hear your thoughts on Bionicle: Mask of light I watched it recently and was really moved.

Me 🤝 Caldwell Rightfully Afraid of Horses

Crazy enough Aerion’s actor is also wearing a wig, they had enough money for the wig department here

YOU’VE NEVER HAD LAMB!?

I assume the rules of jousting were completely accurately portrayed in A Knight's Tale.

I haven't watched anything Game of Thrones since season 1, but I'll take any NaddNoise

I’m really loving the image of Emily playing offensive line for the Bengals. I can already picture Joe Burrow being absolutely eviscerated by a defensive end as Emily shouts COUNTERSPELL!!

Ah hyped to listen to this- my partner wanted to watch the first ep while we ate our tea and I said NO I guarantee there will be so much shit and piss in this show and I can’t believe how soon I was proven right

On the question of the advantage of height I do wanna say that I fenced semi-seriously in hs and height was not neccesarily considered a good thing. Yes having long legs was helpful but having a long torso was explicitly not. As a general rule, The best fencers I knew were short, slim and fast as fuck. HOWEVER, that was not universally true, the type of fencing matters, and perhaps most importantly of all: Fencing is not jousting lol

I'll listen to y'all talk about it I just refuse to be hurt again after GoT and HotD lol. If this sticks the landing I'll watch it 😂

I'm pretty sure that medieval horses were actually more like modern pony sized, but I have no idea where I got that information. Do your research!!

Wellpp guess I gotta watch knights of the seven kingdoms now

Hell Yeah Remember A knights Tale (Featuring Robert Addie) came out two years after the Hedge Knight novela came out

i got to watch the george rr martin panel about this and honestly it got me really hyped. the first 2 eps were genuinely so good.

i just finished the most recent strahd episode and now for the first time i am caught up!!

wow they're talking about something good. this is crazy

let’s gooo! ive really been enjoying it despite some of the reviews i’ve see

they did this for me specifically

Guys there’s spoilers

This is so gas
