I had one of those shrugs that went w a summer dress and my friends teased me mercilessly about it and threw it out when I wasn’t looking bc they had the same argument 🤣🤣🤣. I have got to find the picture of it
Just a far too late comment on this episode, but my mom met Dave Matthews after one of his shows at Alpine Valley in Wisconsin. I was an usher for the shows as my first job in high school, and she was waiting to pick me up after work. He walked by she said hi not knowing who he was, they talked for a minute and that’s that lmao
Fuck AI. Long live the library.
Literally commenting on this soooo late, but my re-listen of the campaign made me remember that my paternal grandparents would always gift my parents those dumb porcelain Precious Moments figurines and my mom HATED them and always derogatorily called them “Precious Big Heads”
The bashful baby angels are called cherubs
As someone who started listening last year and has been catching up, it's great to hear how much y'all hate AI as compared to the episode a few years ago where you were all interested in it (except Caldwell, creatives have been warning everyone since the start!!!)
I saw 300 and my husband and I hated it a lot. I had someone tell me I just didn't understand it because I'm not an ~artist~. 😒
It’s funny Em and Murph watched 300 from the library because when I worked at my local library in the shelving department we had a “game” where if we shelved 300 books in a day we could kick our supervisor down the elevator shaft shouting “This is Sparta!”. Obviously not ACTUALLY kick him down it, but we would joke about it a lot. 😂
First, died laughing at Emily screaming “NOOO” like Vader at the end of revenge of the sith. Second, if you think reliquaries or saint bones are interesting at all and want to go on a historical fiction adventure about it, I highly recommend reading Nicked by MT Anderson.
i love how they will blatantly politicize normal stuff and not bat an eye but worried about losing people while shitting on ai.... they're getting old lmao
The Precious Moments talk killed me. My mom has a HUGE precious moments snowglobe collection! Not because she ever asked for them, but because that’s all I could think of buying her for holidays from 16-23.
never stop dunking on ai please
This whole 300 convo I'm waiting for them to bring out how blatanly racist it is
what an original take in 2026 lmao never would have guessed
as a painter, never stop dunking on ai
Emily- Shrugs are, as another commenter said, mostly for those of us with fat upper arms. The other commenter specified being self conscious about the upper arms but liking the rest of their body, which is great for them and does cover one use case. But liking the rest of your body isn't necessary. Some fat people have trouble finding clothes for the upper body that fits correctly. Shirts/dresses jackets/coats that fit well everywhere else will often NOT fit my upper arms. If the upper arms are a comfortable fit, then the rest of the garment is likely oversized, which is fine for some things but not others. I wear a LOT of tank tops because of this fit issue, and I used to wear shrugs with them when it was cold because I could find tanks that fit my torso and shrugs that fit my arms easier than a fitted sweater or long sleeve shirt that actually fit both. Fat or not, shrugs are also a way to keep your arms warm/covered while also showing whatever top is under them. They are a little weird, but they can be styled to look good. Fortunately though, size inclusive clothing has expanded a bit over time and we have more options now.
Wouldn't there be no bones of Jesus in the catholic cannon because he rose from the tomb and ascended to heaven
Here’s the Wikipedia article for anyone interested: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dave_Matthews_Band_bus_incident
Also here’s an oral history article written for the 20 year anniversary of poopgate. They actually interviewed a bunch of people who were on the boat and in the area as it happened: https://www.chicagomag.com/city-life/thats-not-water-buddy-an-oral-history-of-poopgate/
“Dave Matthew’s Brown”
Reliquaries are objects that often contain physical remains of saints and other objects associated with religious figures. There is also a fun history of churches stealing other churches reliquaries and then invoking “that the reliquary chose to reside here” as their justification for theft 😂
3:20 rare Murph wants to go off the rails but EMILY insists on getting back on track
Idk if anyone has said this yet But bannerman castle has an insane history and I believe was a private military warehouse for some insane rich dude You can do canoe tours out there and sometimes there’s folk concerts If Dave Matthews does a concert there he can shit right in the river!
300 is a fantastic movie that me and my family watch every Christmas Day along with tombstone.
I’m 20, club penguin was my childhood! So many fond memories!
I’m a little late, but an FYI for Emily: Shrugs are for those of us that have fat upper arms that we are self conscious about but really like the rest of our body. It’s like a comfort cover. I can understand why Emily thinks they are weird because if you never have a need for them, it seems silly. But they are part of my wardrobe and help me feel confident. So they are for somebody. 😁
if you add “-ai” to your google searches it won’t give you the stupid overview—i’ve made it a shortcut in my phone when i type “ai” so it’s even easier. never stop mocking ai lol, i hate how many people think it’s normal and fine
Please never stop mocking AI. I never want it to be normalized. Caldwell’s rage about it when it first started becoming popular was the main reason I was willing to subscribe
"we're talking about 300 cause we get dvds from the library" welcome back, 2005!!!! I loved getting dvds from the library with my mom when I was a kid and im fully on board with dvds being back
Fun Fact: my friend's wife was on the little lady when it got drenched in shit. She still likes DMB.
https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/d/de/Mary_Magdalene%27s_skull.jpg Happy Nightmare everyone!
The penguins made me think of Misery.
One fun fact is in medieval France they would take a saint's relic on little jaunts to neighboring towns or countrysides only to return home at the end, like a little vacation. Locals would act like if a celebrity rolled into town for a season, often being annoyed and sometimes ridiculing them for abandoning their home church
I love nothing more than when you all talk about how much you hate AI! AI is disastrous to the planet and destroying art while stealing from artists
Rather If yall weren't this stance/talking shit on ai, i wouldve been out. Much better alienate those who 'like' ai
emily!! i have a book rec if u want to learn more abt the process of sainthood specifically for women! there’s not a lot of like specifics fot sainthood necessarily BUT it would be a really good place to start if you’re interested! Secrets of Women: Gender, Generation, and the Origins of Human Dissection by Katherine Park
There is a kickstarted documentary about poopgate: The Crappening: A Documentary, via @Kickstarter https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/crappeningdoc/the-crappening-a-documentary
how does Caldwell not know of the 300 comic book?
I think he does, he mentioned Sin City and said "that's also a Frank Miller" so it seems like he's aware
I’m getting caught up and I’m a few weeks behind, but I was also an altar boy, and I remember that my church had a container that had fragments of what I believe were the ankle bones of a Saint.
a lot of the worlds problems WOULD be solved if people were renting 300 from the library !!!!!!!!!!
Troy absolutely is bad, maybe not as bad as 300 but bad
Fear of choosing the wrong movie meant my brothers and I *always* ended up renting the same four movies: TMNT, Jem & the Holograms, Surf Ninjas and A Goofy Movie.
I've never heard of poop gate before, and I share Emily's response. I have a newborn baby, and thinking about the baby on the ship fills me with terror and rage. This has ruined DMB and boats on rivers, forever.
I collected Calico Kittens, my sister collected Cherished Teddies (two different collections of figurines by the same company). A family friend made custom cabinets to display them in our rooms... This was absolutely something our grandma bought for us, and she - till her dying days - would say that she still had plans to sell the collectibles (all she had to do was price compare on ebay). Bless her sweet little heart.
As a Librarian, you talk about Libraries as much as you want! It would solve a lot of problems if everyone just checked out 300 (and other films) from their Library.
When I was in university, the other classics majors and I would have an event where we would watch 300 and yell about everything wrong with it. The yelling was constant.
Library mixed bags please
Pretty confident the venn diagram of AI haters and NADDPOLES is a circle
You would be surprised. I saw Trump supporters commenting on the D&D court compilations for election day
I love getting movies from the library please keep talking about it!
Sweeties I promise that you guys constantly hating on AI is the OPPOSITE of alienating. Please keep going. Fuck genAI forever
Idc I’m so pro library
club penguin heads, rise! party at my igloo!
Club penguin fin-waver here 🐧🐧 Breakfast place fortified for war is just a waffle house, classic W frame ideology
The way that Little Lady story made me cackle while trying to do incline bench almost killed me
Caitlin Doughty has a quick good vid about how like saint's bones and relieve work https://youtu.be/jN4SvtRje2I?si=5xRDdCEHe4XB2xjY
Did you all know that most public libraries have apps called hoopla and canopy, where you can download and read, listen, watch books, audiobooks, movies and tv for free? It also works in a smart tv. Also I worked as a public librarian for years, and we always get the latest media on dvd. They still make dvds of everything, and we would get them early and had it available the day it was released.
I thought it was Kanopy
At this point i'm listening to the show so I can enjoy the short rest bits more (show is great the short rest is just transcendent)
Fun Fact!!! During the black death priests robbed the Graves of poor people and used their bones as (effectively) advertising to convince pagans to donate their money to the church. It played off of their long held pagan beliefs of ancestor worship and tied it to the Catholic Church!
They pretended to bones were the bones of saints and had whole shows where they displayed them in churches across Europe
Chicago will never forget the DMB incident, it's in the news every year on the anniversary.
Casino is objectively better than 300, and I like 300.
Also the only thing I remember from when 300 was popular was people losing their minds that Leonidas and THE Phantom of the Opera were the same actor. …I was not a cool kid in high school.
That request for Troy is gonna be worth it. It’s a great film to watch for free… probably wouldn’t pay for it but it holds up.
But brad Pitt's little jump though
In case anyone sees this before listening, I would not giving this a listen while eating
If you want something to collect, I have about 75 kitchen fairies in a box. They are cute!
Story in the Old Testament about Samson and Delilah, Samson kills like 2000 soldiers with the jawbone of an ass.
If you guys just wanted to talk about random movies from the early 2000s that you rented from the library for a bonus, then I'm absolutely here for it, that's basically what you do anyways
I'm in
Omg as a millennial who owns an antique store, them boomers really really REALLY do think their giant collections of angels/teacups/commemorative plates/tiny spoons are worth a lot of money.
Bones being in a church is an interesting topic actually! If you are curious google “Christian Relic Theft”
My librarian heart swells with joy whenever y'all mention visiting the library!!
It was implied
The fact that the Spartans were Hella brave and Hella into fighting was the only historically accurate part of the film. The Spartans were an incredibly militaristic culture.
Keep making fun of AI, it makes me feel seen
Caldwell, wound you consider sketching this insane house on your stream this month? (I need to see it, I cannot comprehend this…)
i'm pretty sure i remember a whole thing where two churches were going after each other stealing bones back and forth back in like old england
Emily should start watching old Jackie Chan and other Hong Kong movies from the 80s and 90s
This is the short rest energy I'm here for. DVDs from the library ❤️
It's On with Zahn
I'd like to assure Emily that if anything you're not making fun of AI enough. (But seriously it is always a relief when creators I love also understand AI is bullshit so thank you)
Caldwell was talking about the series by photographer Eiji Ohashi and I was skeptical but the vending machine photos are undeniably beautiful
Now Emily amd Murphy need to immediately watch the 300 parody movie that was out amongst all the disaster movie and scary movies, the way they make fun of the original I feel like will make them hollering with laughter
Checking out DVDs at the library is such a good strat, been doing it since I was a kid 😆
100000% agreed on that Coca Cola ad, it’s awful
Regarding making the wrong DVD choice - a roommate and I loved watching bad movies and making fun of them (a la MST3K). One weekend we rented Jesus Christ: Vampire Hunter and Christopher Lambert's Beowulf. JC:VH was delightfully bad in the most fun ways but Beowulf was so actually bad that we ran out of things to say 25 minutes in and just sat there, flummoxed.
You forgot about the essence of the game. It's about the bones...
My other favorite part of the DMB shit story is that, in 2014, the founders of Riot Fest put up a plaque to commemorate the incident.
I actually watched Sin City a few weeks ago with some friends! It’s so over the top that it feels like a parody, but that also makes it kind of fun.
Pretty sure the nude figurines Murph is thinking of are Love is… by Kim Casali, they were big in the 70’s
I was thinking maybe Goebel figurines!
let’s tip the iceberg fellow gen-z-ers
Love the ai hate so much. It truly is ruining Google. I was trying to research stuff for an astral elf grave domain build, and the AI just decided to go "here's a horrible backstory for your character so you don't have to do it yourself" and the actual websites were so buried under that and the ai recommended searches
Next time you go to Chicago you need to see the plaque on the Kinzie Street bridge about the DMB poop incident. I’m so glad you now know the full horrors of the shitastrophy.
the AI stance is refreshing, I am also intensely opposed to seeing it everywhere/using it and people around me chastise me for not wanting to use it. listening to you all make fun of it truly makes me feel normal
Fellow library dvd borrower here and would love a view crew episode about movies that Em and Murph have checked out! Local libraries are truly so important and it makes me so happy anytime they get mentioned.
Bannerman Castle! You can take a tour of it!
The comment section for this short rest: twooters, Dave Matthews, Island castles, 300, angel butts. Proof that the Internet is a marketplace of ideas.
i’m raising my fin
top tier short rest this week, keep up the good work
I’m disappointed no one in the comments made the “Shittle Lady” joke. It’s definitely not too soon.
Emily: I wonder if AI hate will bother listeners. Also Emily: Do they use Jesus' bones as weapons in Christianity? I love these guys 😂
The battle beasts i had weren't transformers at all. They were just figures that had weapons and had an element sticker on them that you had to heat up to see which element it was. Fire, water or wood
Bannerman Island, the family created Army Navy Surplus stores!
Battle beasts actually are transformers! Or related to them anyway. In a Japanese exclusive cartoon there was a whole episode dedicated to the two of them meeting!
Somebody knows ball
Hate AI, keep it up!
Relics are mostly bones! The word comes from a Latin word meaning “remnant” as in the remains or remnants of. So mostly bones, dust, hair etc. or there are “contact relics” that are materials which made contact with a holy person—wood, textiles, etc would fit in this category.
NADDPOD needs to do a live show at the Precious Moments Chapel in Carthage, Missouri. https://preciousmomentschapel.org/
Club penguin heads unite 🫡🫡🫡🫡
30:54 Emily shouting NO! so loud the audio distorted 🤣🤣
An A-frame house with a parking lot and a Hooters glow? With perches for crows? You just built the fantasy spot for rollerbladers
Oh no, once they start they’ll never stop!
My grandmother collected owls...now I do
Worst short rest ever! So bad u actually commented 😑
has there ever been a short rest Less about the actual episode 😂
...so no short rest about the episode😑 and Emily shitti g on 300 but talks about how amazing Batman An Robin is
That’s literally why I’m here
Hudson Line Metro-North represented!!
The only bad movie choice I can recall is getting Arachnophobia on VHS (also had to rent the player) which my dad was _mad_ about. How were we to know he didn't want to relax with some arachnid horror right after work?
Seeing that this short rest was going to go an hour I knew there was going to be a wicked tangent
naddpod is my Dave Matthews band
Pro tip to avoid ai in searches: download ecosia, which is a chrome extension, then toggle off the AI summary. It'll be like Google in 2015 again!
Adding a second comment because I live in Poughkeepsie, the last stop on the Metro North and yes, that little island is called Bannerman castle. Here’s a link to the history on their website: https://bannermancastle.org/history We always gossiped as kids that the reason no one could go there was because there were so much leftover live ammunition scattered across the island that it was too dangerous. With that said, I believe it’s open for Kayak tours now.
This unlocked a memory of when I used to be really in to collecting those ceramic cow figurines that came decorated in different art styles/design motifs in the late 90s/early 2000s. Apparently they still make them! https://cowparade.com/shop/
But also, I contend that anyone who is alienated by y'all's disdain for AI deserves to be alienated.
It's the dragon pussy of this decade
Restaurants with matchbooks? That's a thing? Do i just never go to fancy enough restaurants? What would they even be for, if restaurants don't have smoking sections anymore?
Troy IS bad, but I hope Murph enjoys it more than I did
Absolutely fucking hate AI - never stop hating AI. Make AI lovers feel bad forever.
Second comment in 6yrs subscription: don't worry, AI deserves the hate. Love to you all
Never stop vocally hating AI. This is the only media I consume that is vehemently against it and I need the reminder that I'm not insane for avoiding it at all costs.
My Papaw has a sick chess collection. I wasn’t even allowed to touch the giant display case they were in.
As a Chicagoan it’s so funny hearing them learn about the DMB incident I thought everyone knew they dumped the poop on people
I just need to say if anyone wants more info on the Dave Matthews band incident a great auzzie podcast "just the gist" does a great episode on it. It's WILD.
As one who lives very close to the Precious Moments Museum, that was my exact picture
boomer take 300 rips
Oooo, I had the Polar Claw Beastwars toy when I was a kid, my brother and I were obsessed. It's just boy polly pocket, exact same glorious experience, as a kid who had both.
Incredibly rare Amherst College shoutout
tbh he says the H in an unconvincing way
Zach Snyder got his start in commercials so it makes sense that his movies make better trailers than narratives. He did those commercials from way back where greyscale people sweat colorful beads of gatorade.
I need a crew reaction to Suckerpunch now.
Yes!
This is my favorite short rest ep in a while. So glad the rants are back. I missed them
re: Emily's worry about alienating people with the anti-AI talk. I'm a big AI hater as so much about it goes against my morals. I'm also a university student, and have to hear my peers succumbing to the AI slop and using AI for anything and everything. Hearing you guys hate on it and call the issues with it out unabashedly is a nice break from the environment i spend so much of my time in. so I hope u guys keep it up :))
Also a major AI hater, I have a degree in Creative Writing that I should be able to leverage to get a decent paying entry level job. I feel absolutely crazy and depressed seeing what’s happened to my industry and I feel crazy talking to people who think I should be using it because xyz. I’m constantly battling my managers who want me to “speed up” my writing process with AI slop, and people saying I should’ve gotten a “better degree.” Them dunking on AI when it comes up does a teeny tiny part to restore some of my sanity. I could not give a singular less of a fuck about people who would just as soon take away the jobs of my favorite podcasters by generating some AI slop version of this podcast.
I already loathed DMB before Poopgate and I loathe them infinitely more after. There’s no coming back from Poopgate.
I loved these eps! I appreciate that y'all don't go in for the AI nonsense that's flooding the zone so much these days; please don't change and succumb to the slop 💜💜💜 A-Frame Hooters (Twooters) made me think of Twin Peaks. That may be a Texas only thing though!
I think Nao Cheeky Cherubs might be the angels Murph had in mind
Yall gotta read jojos bizarre adventure part 7 its all about about collecting jesus’ bones scattered across america
Bannerman Island is pretty dramatic, I took the train down from Montreal once and researched it. It was built by an eccentric military surplus dealer who used it to store gear and ammunition, some pretty crazy stuff too, until it exploded a few years after he died.
The little 00’s shrug was made for me and I love them.
Battle Beasts!
I have some pretty strong memories of seeing 300 in the theaters back in highschool with my buds, and we were all SO pumped leaving the theater lol. We hadn't gotten tired of the slow-mo yet. I refuse to see it again, there's no way it can hold up to my memories
I want to preface this with that I’ve never been to New York, so don’t know what route the amtrak north takes but some googling suggests the castle Emily and Caldwell talk about seeing could be on North Brother Island. If it is, it’s the remnants of the hospital where Mary Mallon (Typhoid Mary) was confined. It was what I immediately thought of as a microbiologist who was absolutely drilled on the importance of asymptomatic carriers in the spread of disease and the ethics around how to address them (spoiler, confine them for the rest of their life isn’t really an acceptable option anymore 😬)
related to the tag sale/yard sales - if you've ever done the NYT regional dialect quiz for the US turns out that tag sale is a super region specific term. As in, pretty much just Fairfield County in CT and the surrounding areas and that's it. The quiz is a bit old at this point and usage has probably spread a little bit, but I found that a neat fact! it's also a good way to immediately identify former CT residents
I went to college in western mass and picked up saying tag sales and was delighted to hear jake say it! don't think anyone else I went to school with still says it lol
It’s so funny that Murph brought up watching 300 with Emily almost immediately, and really wanted to address it up top, then 20 mins later is the one to say ‘what are we doing, we’re just talking about 300, our audience is like ‘wtf are they talking about’’
300 was such a huge part of my teens, our whole friend group reenacted some scenes too. It was a bros for bros no bromo kinda film. And to address the slow mo excessiveness. Only other movie doing it was the Matrix and this was like nestled perfectly in between movies
Wild people cant grasp the observer effect 😂 its woo woo until you look into it for 5 minutes. It takes light to see and measure things, the particles used are small enough to be effected by light, therefore changing the outcome. Its not because of our consciousness or other bullshit lol
The best thing 300 gave us was the spoof Meet The Spartans
I didn’t see 300 in theaters but I did see Meet the Spartans in theaters. I cannot imagine a world in which it holds up AT ALL and I’m afraid to confirm either way.
raising my fin 🐧
as someone who grew up in a precious moments household the first 10 minutes were killing me 😭
I was 14 when 300 came out. Me and the boys watched it dozens of times, usually in my basement on a CRT TV through the PS2 while we ate an entire tray of brownies. That was probably my peak.
the national security bit is one of the funniest things i’ve ever heard. i love it sm.
Might be a Midwest thing but a significant number of houses near me had a porch goose that they’d dress up in seasonal garb throughout the year
club penguin was the shit
I wrote a term paper on Sin City and while it still mostly holds up in my opinion, my biggest take away is that Brittney Murphy is the only one who realizes she’s in a film noir and bc no one else does it makes her acting look bad 😂
I’m not an expert in holy relics, but I know Oscar Romeros bowels were buried separately from his body. If they didn’t decompose that would be considered one of his miracles and go towards his canonization process. So I would assume that bones would become relics pretty quickly.
SO glad yall went to the dave matthews band shit incident wiki i Needed to hear the reaction to yall learning it emptied into a passenger boat😭
Love the DVD borrowing shoutout. Support your local library! It brings back those Blockbuster browsing sensations
If anyone is interested in medieval Catholics and their Thing with Bones, there is a book on the cultural history of touch called The Deepest Sense with a chapter called “A Touchable God” that talks about it in detail. People were fighting to touch pieces of saints’ corpses. Fun!
Nothing makes me happier than knowing Emily and Murph did not like 300. I tried to watch it twice and fell asleep both times. Emily is right, as an action fan the action in it is bad. The style is also bad, but that's just Zack Snyder being Zack Snyder and his style is not my jam. I remember when that movie was super popular and it's nice to know that I'm not alone anymore in thinking it was bad.
libraries are back in a big way, all my friends get movies and tv shows! from the library
Key 300 memory of mine was a parody voice over. When they get to the tree where a bunch of people including kids had been killed by Persians, they had the Spartan say "this is awful, these children should have been thrown off the baby killing cliff instead!".
They showed 300 at my middle school as a history flick lol, we had to get permission slips for it and everything
Stop 😂😂😂
never stop shitting on ai it makes my day each time
I’m currently looking at my wife’s collection of Precious Moments while I’m working out and I am thankful she has them on marketplace to sell. Please get this mess out of the house 😂
Fuck AI
I won't have you talk about Keychain like that
My nana had a clown house, so just loads of little porcelain clowns everywhere, paintings of clowns. I bloody loved it?! My other grandad is the sweetest man but collects themed Toby jugs…so the house is wall to wall porcelain faces of like jack nicholson, miss piggy, the cast of Star Trek for some reason. Again, rad. I love a chotchky house! And I hate AI, pls keep raggin on it!
My mom forced me to collect pewter clowns. They were a nightmare.
Saint Marcovia's thigh bone make me think of Samson using the Jawbone of an Ass as a club and the 2001 ape paladins using a femur as a club
My Illinois native millennial heart absolutely cracked up remembering the DMB Poopgate story
Am I having the craziest deja vu or can someone please reassure me they've told the National Security rental story before?
they def have
Feeling extremely seen as someone who gets DVDs from the library
I love when murph wants to be off topic he gets shut down immediately
Murph got Murphed
Raising my Finn’s for the club penguin shout out
Please keep making fun of AI. It sucks so bad and it’s nice to not be the only one saying it
Please never stop dunking on ai
https://youtube.com/shorts/9mav_EVdduM?si=AyL9yqdGqm5y2RcW I just needed yall to know this exists.
All the talk about saints, bones, and badass golden reliquaries makes me sad that Martin Luther was an iconoclast. Protestantism is great, but there’s no denying the Catholics have a cooler aesthetic.
For those interested by the discussion to paint the hooters in pristine nature I'd suggest checking out the painter Jake Longstreth who actually does almost this exact thing: https://jakelongstreth.com/#/paintings-2019present/ He paints landscapes of nature mixed with corporate franchised type buildings such as fast food restaurants and big box stores and they're actually incredibly beautiful and captivating. And yes, if you click the link and scroll down for enough you will indeed see a painting he has made of the first Hooters restaurant.
All this talk about renting movies at the library warms my heart!! I work at my local library and LOVE seeing people get hyped for a family movie night and it's always so fun to hear about their hot takes on the film when they return it. I am so glad y'all are spreading the good word about libraries!! 📚✨️
You guys really need to look up how 300 was made. It's pretty insulting for a very low budget film that was made in Quebec, for you guys to turn around and shit on it many years later. It honestly revolutionized or at least showed that a low budget film can be good
a bad movie is a bad movie man
Millennial from the club penguin squad reporting for duty 🫡
Also Twootters Crewtters? Twootters Cooters?
My *ecology* professor promotes AI and it pisses me off
Just wanted to say there are 100% pieces of saints bones at most if not at all Catholic Churches… my church in junior high has like a sliver of a bone, but they were not used as a weapon 😔
You're going to make me google the density of gray vs black water LOOOL edit: the math is serious
Saint Thérèse’s relics are actually on a national tour of the US right now lol. Maybe she’ll go to Chicago
Harry Potter and the Throes of Labubudom Also, collecting drink containers seems to be a right of passage for becoming an adult. Always appreciated the large variety of weird mugs, cups, and bottles my and my friend’s families had.
comment for all the library lovers and librarians to express their love for borrowing physical media from the library
Murph, please. For the love of all that is holy, just add “-ai” at the end of your google search. I can’t even laugh at that anymore, it’s slowly killing me. Don’t give their ai more use. Fuck AI.
i am living for murph describing the tragedy dave matthews band caused also fuck AI
absolutely here for the tangents about movies you rented from the library and recounting weird events from the early 2000s not even a little confused or disappointed ᵕ̈
Am I crazy or have they already talked about the dumping in the Chicago river or did I read that somewhere else like did it go viral on social media recently? 😭😭
Pretty sure the angels in question are Precious Moments crossed with the naked cherubs from the centaur section of Fantasia
What the fuck are they talking about? I’m 24 mins in
Ohp, lol. Murph called it
300 and Sin City were both based on Frank Miller graphic novels, so the films were stylized to look as much like the comic book pages as possible. Sometimes that works/holds up (Sin City) and sometimes it fails (300).
I gotta side with Murph Twootters Crew was heavily implied. There unfortunately was no 2 rolled. :(
“I turned 40 and i’m just like, I guess I’m a guy who wants cups from Pizza Hut” spoke to my SOUL
I love when Caldwell makes a reference that would have absolutely slapped on Drawfee lol
my friend's family used to collect everything pilsbury dough boy themed. i had no warning. needless to say i thought i was on punk'd
Please make sure it’s the directors cut of Troy because the theatrical one sucks balls
i felt some odd sense of chicagoan pride as they figured out how truly awful the dmb shit incident was and i’m not sure what to make of that
Tell Murph that Heather Anne Campbell, who is also a HeadGum podcast host, has a Pizza Hut lamp and Pizza Hut cups. Make that work somehow.
I was definitely picturing the baby angels as Linda's porcelain babies from Bob's Burgers, except with wings.
I always thought the excessive slow-mo in 300 was meant to mimic the panels of the graphic novel. Like the still images brought to life and the action scene slowed down to meet in the middle
fuck ai IS the most based and reliable stance shoutout caldwell
it’s very heartening to hear yall make fun of ai❣️❣️❣️
At the time it was relevant, I loved getting Wii games from the library!
Fuck ai
Please twitch stream a club penguin introduction. I know you are able to be in the penguin secret agent society
I think murph is confusing things remembered with precious moments which were the weird little religious angels
BATTLEBEASTS JAKE! I collected them as a kid too! Animals in power armor! I still have my entire collection and I’m uh…..not a kid anymore.
Before I listened to this, I thought to myself. You know I don’t always care too much about the D&D talk back, but you never know what random funny things their gonna say…very satisfied
murph dosent understand that i come here for the side convo i wanna hear the funny weird topics🤣
More library DVD talk please, this rules 😎 Also while I agree with Caldwell that the heat is Zahn, I have to disagree with his stance that dumping DMB feces all over the good people of Chicago is a fine thing to do. I just can’t go with him on that one
loving the 300 chatter
Caldwell is 100% right about how you guys joke about AI, I think I can speak for a lot of NADDPOD fans when I say that we love this podcast because of the hard work and genuine passion you guys have for creating it and I doubt people many people here who support you guys also support the antithesis to what you guys do which is AI
You can get the cups from Pizza Hut. I forget what they are. Last year there was a thing on TikTok and the company that makes them put out what the model Was
i love getting dvds from the library, it’s how i watch 80% of the nonsensical movies they bring up on the show!
Can confirm, three bartenders must sacrifice their service lighters if you don’t have matchbooks. That, or a line cook has to break their vape pen while taking out the trash to the dumpster. The universe craves balance.
Is Jake talking about Zoids???
No lol
You are absolutely not losing us on the AI stuff, naddpod's clear stance on ai being extremely bad genuinely makes me feel like this is a safe space where I know I won't have to hear a moron loser defending it, a more and more rare occurrence lately I very deeply hope ai lovers do feel alienated and go away from here lmao
I used to pretend to be a boy on club penguin when I was little so that the girl penguins would go on dates with me 😭
My bike ride home after work is looking even better
I'm only a few minutes in, but I'll say that I think Caldwell and Murph are right that you aren't losing us on AI. I think a lot more people are starting to feel like it's made basic tasks like googling things much worse (in addition to having a lot of bad ethical consequences as well)
