whoa!!! connor’s fantasy bleeds into the story! the mood is definitely intensifying! and cindy is firmly in the power position, at least in connor’s mind… in reality she’s just a sweet person trying to do a job but connor sees her as a powerful even malevolent force now… i’m a little worried he might snap!

"Your laundry room is in the basement?" You just went down the stairs with him. Where else did you expect it to be?
I think what this line reveals is she’s slightly cautious following Connor down there. (See the exposed pipes in the next panel. It’s just slightly creepy, the way unfinished basements are.) This is interesting because while she is trying to babysit, having to deal with an unexpected cleanup hassle, having her weight pointed out and dealing with Connor’s weird behavior while in an unfamiliar house and working, Connor is oblivious to her vulnerability. As he’s collapsing mentally he sees her as all-powerful. This kind of thing is not great…
