Reminder, you are playing developer builds!
The intent of the Patreon was never to give customer facing builds. It was to give a behind scenes look into a game being actively developed. Before the Patreon "blew up" you were able to test Barnaby's chase before it had art or quality of life features.
We have repeat reports that the settings menu can cause the screen to lock, this issue has been known for a while. We do not fix it (currently) for the following reason:
It is important for us to follow our project plan to ensure we are not blocking other developers. I am currently working alongside our (one) programmer to finish the level design. If he stops to take 2 weeks to recreate and rework the settings menu, I am without a partner to finish the level design, and development for level design will come to a stand still. As long as these bugs are standalone and not blocking our progress, we will leave it be. I understand it can be a tad frustrating to have bugs like this, but I really can't push out our release date.
Please treat playing demos as a sneak peak behind the curtain rather than an actual final product. We do not want to create extra work and delay the release of the game for Patreon content. I worry a misconception was created when Barnaby's demo released on here. It was part of gamescom and was polished as a small vertical slice for use in expos. Future builds here will not have that level of polish when they are first released here.
Although bug reports are appreciated, we are hiring a full QA team at the end of development for a couple of months to focus on fixing bugs. We also fix bugs as we see fit as we develop depending on the severity.
The other option is we do wait for builds to be more polished, but then you do miss out on the behind the scenes, and builds will be less frequent

no unfortunately you can't keep the key. You will be automated with a new one once you subbed again

im not sure tbh! I just get notified i have dms, I've never been customer facing on a patreon. There may be a guide
Thank you for the explanation! Personally the bugs didn’t bother me much, I did get one bug on Fanto’s fight that made me have to reset but I wasn’t too upset. I wanted patreon to support my favorite devs and get a fun sneak peak on gaming. As long as the builds function enough to be enjoyable, I have no regrets supporting! Keep it up :D
I'm just happy to play the game as is I love the fact we're getting stuff we're not supposed to stream do you know how cool that is to me personally...I'm always interested in pre alpha builds, alpha builds, and beta builds.

Thank you for sharing your process and reasoning with us! This was one of the bugs I have experienced but since the game is still being made it's not at all shocking there are bugs present. But they're not biggie to me I've just been having fun being able to get this neat peek behind the scenes!
I'm just happy to get to watch the progress y'all are making
I for one am happy with my pledge and my son loves feeling like he is contributing to the game even if it is just a tiny sliver of help!

Oh yeah I did notice that issue. It's slightly annoying since I want to disable the fps limit, but I can live with that

You’re telling me a pre-alpha build, one not typically made publicly available, isn’t meant for consumer use quite yet and thus may have issues that may also not be pressing enough to put full or even some effort into fixing! Heresy! (This is sarcasm, great job yall, and I can’t wait to see the full release!) (This was meant to poke fun at the people who thought the builds were for playtesting or something, and I mean poke fun, not accuse or demean)
