And again the new poll...^^` Belle's outfits and other stuff
Hi friends!
Work over the 'Library Story' is in full swing! Now we are engaged in the system of changes of Belle's appearance depending on her parameters. Different breasts size, clothing, hairstyle, etc. This is a very interesting part of the game, but we are faced with quite predictable problem.
The fact is that if we change Belle's appearance in each scene, then it will take a long time for repainting of all this scenes. More exactly - veeery looong time :D. And the more episodes will be added into the game, the more repaintings will be needed for all these scenes and hence the more amount of work will be spent for changing of clothes.
Since we work with Xaljio together, there are the next options: either to work out all kinds of clothing for each scene but it will automatically mean the less amount of new quests and art (because repainting of clothes in each scene will take lots of time), or to add new content (quests and art) but remain her usual clothes in big scenes and episodes (but other appearance stuff (breasts size, hairstyle or make up) perhaps will be changed).
In addition, the necessity to work out a different look for Belle in every scene, severely limits possible diversity, because in this case I would have to deal with painting mainly costumes... Taking into account that these dozens of clothes are needed for every big scene!..
At the same time, we can easily make a huge variety of Belle's outfits (and not only Belle) in the dialogs. Because all dialogs sprites are all fitted to the same standard (unlike big scenes for each quest with different chars poses). But on the other hand, it is rather strange, if Belle in dialogue will be with huge tits and revealing dress, but in the scene for the same quest - with her standard dress and usual figure.
There is still another option - to make each scene in this way that it would be actual just for one kind of Belle's clothing. For example, at home she always wears her home dress, in the town changes another dress, in the forest - wears sweater, etc. But this is also not the best option, because not all scenes might be adjusted to such a format. Besides, we've conceived some changes of the appearance within the same outfit (for example, to her usual dress may be added necklines, cut-outs, corset, etc.)In general, we are now in the thoughts about how to solve this problem related with great amount of work for outfit changes.
In fact, now there are 3 basic options:
1) Not change Belle's appearance within one definite outfit (means necklines, cut-outs, more short skirt, corsets etc.). So her outfits will be changed in such way that there will no situations in which her clothes may look different depending on various parameters. We believe this the worst option as it eliminates an interesting mechanic (but it's also the easiest option).
2) Change Belle's appearance just in the dialogs and status window. Big scenes will not be changed - considering this as conventionality. In our opinion this is the best option that most unties our hands. But, of course, it also has some obvious disadvantages. Perhaps, in this case, can be partial changes of Belle's appearance in scenes (eg - hair style, breast size, make-up...) But the complete changes of outfit (in big scenes) is not out of the question.
3) Change Belle's appearance in the dialogues, status, as well as in all big scenes. This greatly reduces the number of options for her possible outfits, also slows down speed of game development and reduces the number of big scenes in general. In terms of amount of the work it is the worst option. But Belle's views will be the same as all over the art in the game.
Perhaps we could first use the option number 2, and then gradually refine the art to option 3. But it will take tons of time and effort just for completion of ready-made and already viewed big scenes. Is it worth for such efforts?
In the near future we will decide what to do with this situation. But we are also interested in your opinion! What is more important for you: the number of Belle's outfits and her shape? Reality (coincides of Belle's view in big scenes and dialogues)? Or this is not so important at all, and the main thing is as much as possible scenes, quests and different situations? Vote, please, for one of the three options.
Thank you, guys! ^^`

I agree with All Seen Eye, i would choose option 2 for the moment and then maybe after relese of v0.8 doing option 3 so you first give us new content so have something to look for and the start the repainting etc. which would delay the release of version 0.9 ...
Well, in version 0.9 will probably appear the same question - either new art for quests, or repainting of dresses)) So option 3 will likely to be added the final release of the game or in the 'Gold Edition'. Besides it can be the reason for passing the game again: D
I have to admit, that the closing part is the most interesting part for me in such kind of games. Different outfits and especially their progression makes a game for me attractive^^. I would rather prefer option 2 in order to have more outfits and not having themsyned in all episodes. But thats just my opinion...
Well, yes, we plan to do it in this way. Option 2 allows to create more variations of different costumes depending on corruption levels, and at the same time to spend far less time for repainting than option 3. Although outfits changing in big scenes will likely to be added after the final release of the game, or into "LS Gold Edition ".
I would choose option 2, but then gradually doing option 3. Also, I´m curious for the v0.8 release date. I hope to hear soon.
Once we define the exact release date, then we'll make an announcement here
Love what I have seen of the game so far, it has amazing potential and I am looking forward to seeing what comes next.
Thank you very much for your support ^^` Really nice to hear it! Yes, we plan to do it in this way. Option 3 will likely to be added into the game after all the main quests will be ready (ie after the final release of the game), and when will be spare time for additional painting. Besides it can be the reason for passing the game again :D
I say go with 2 and gradually implement 3. That way it is done and if the game does well enough you can always add more quests maybe even recruit more help with those scenes later.

It sounds like you want to do body modifications? So maybe a mix of option 2 and 3. Do art for increased breasts or whatever but keep her in a standard set of clothes for that scene.
Yes, we probably will try to add the keeping of her body parameters in big scenes. It's rather easier than repainting all dresses and costumes: D

I would tend to agree with Ashbless, #2 seems to be the most viable option for the game with being to fit in examples of #3 where ever it would be most convienent to the game builders
Yeah, we plan to do it in this way. ..
I think No. 2 would be the best option for now. At a later stage, perhaps look to see if 3 is viable.

2 with the body changes. I'd rather sacrifice a few scene in order to see Belle's body and make up changes but I am not willing to do the same for the clothes
I think we will gradually implement this system of outfit changing. So, first there will be changes related to hair and her makeup, as well as possible keeping of the body parameters in big scenes. It's rather easier than repainting all dresses and costumes:D

You are the developer and, if you think option 2 is the way to go, then that should be the one. I like the idea of a transition to 3 sometimes in the future... a refinement when there is time and/or inclination. Keeping this in mind, it might make the transition easier when the time comes. Keep up the good work and I look forward to the next release.

2 for sure
2 later converting to 3.
Well, for the final game I would like to have 3, but since you are still in developpement, 2 can be better so it give you time to work on more important aspect of the game, maybe Xaljio can already programme the events to take account of the change of apparence and put the normal apparence as a place holder, like this you can draw them later and he just have to switch the place holder with the new model
Yes, we plan this in a similar way :)) ie option 3 is likely to be implemented into the game after the final release of LS, and when will be some spare time for additional drawing. Yes, Xaljio is already working over the game mechanics. And the main difficulties of the option 3 are in extra painting of different variations for almost each scene.

#2 if it easier for you but a transition to #3 with patch would be great. Still waiting on that version 0.8 to see if i'll repledge. Also you're saying ''bell parameter'' does that mean there are other stat then dominance and corruption that enter in play or is belle only affected by event and/or quest? or wouldn't it be possible to use layer a bit like akabur did for his game, so intead of drawing a whole body and restarting from nothing just to draw a different set you can just draw part of it and with xajillo coding it would just bring up the specified part depending on her parameter to alter her look. Of course this wouldn't apply to CGI scene because you actually need t oredraw everything. But hey im not a good drawer and a coder so im just pitching this out there.
In general, the addition of other Belle's parameters into 0.8 depends on whether we will have spare time for extra work over the game... However, implementing of additional parameters is scheduled into LS version 1.0 . Yes, now Belle's parameters are affected by events, quest and books, which Gaston sells every day. As for clothes changing - yeah, we are planning to use this method in the dialog sprites - there is really may be almost automatically outfit changing. A main difficulty with repainting her outfits is related to CGI scenes (big scenes) for each event. Perhaps this mechanics will be fully added after the final release of the game. Or even in the version LS 'Gold Edition'

2, you can always add bells and whistles after the game basic game is fleched out.

By what I undertand 2.. Keep original more content.... Or why not just keep her in her normal clothes. And just have her automatically switch outfits yall want in certain scenes or RNG it. Personally I like her original outfit. And would like to see more content and quests. Rather than a shit ton of costumes. PS i am normally a patron and have supported you guys in the past and will again in the near future. But I just cant keep the consistency to one creator without switching to a few other people. sorry. But like I said keep the original, more content. :)

2 with eventual change to 3 if possible
option 2 and then option 3 once the game is completed and you're retooling it to a gold edition. Also I know it doesn't really exist in those times...but Belle in a bikini type outfit would be awesome.
works for me

1: Keep it simple and work on the story line

I second Arawn, option 2 but if 3 can be added at a later date that would be awesome
2 with a change to 3 after game is otherwise finished.
I like option 2, seems the most logical.
2 with eventual change to 3 if possible
3 better spend more time to refine the game than to cut cool gameplay elements, even if finite game had to last year is better to wait and get something good than fast but wasted potential. the essence of the whole game are the quests and scenes in them so if during a conversation bella will be naughty and with body modifications but in the scene will be innocent and unchanged then something is wrong something was version 0.62 while playing Bella should not have panties after entering the code, but when previewing its first masturbation was wearing them, it spoils the pleasure of the game, and although later the spy she had no panties but still should not have them all the time
Maybe make faster comprehensive image inclusion a stretch goal for funding?
Wow, thank you for great idea! I guess this goal can be set after the release of LS v.0.8
2, as 3 may reduce the number of scenes.
2 then you could use option 3 in a "Library Story Gold Edition"
Bravo! it is really great and useful idea)) I think we will do it so.

I would prefer 3 with certain things like body modification trimmed to save work. But that's me. :P (also, new patron! I love the fact that there's a game in this game. Since a lot are primarily interactive novels.)
Thank you for your support ^^` Yes, some modifications can probably be added in the near versions of the game - eg, various hairstyles or make-up, but serious repainting of interactive scenes will be probably just after the final release of the game. Or even for the version LS 'Gold Edition' ...

Vote for option #2. Thank you for an awesome work! Be cool!
Thanks a lot for your support ^^`
3 is my ideal option, because I want to see the gradual corruption of her character. However, I'd also be cool with startign at 2 and building up to 3 like you mentioned at the end.
Yeah, we think in a similar way. Because it's quite easily to implement changing of hairstyles and makeup, maybe to keep her body parameters in big scenes... But the most efforts are needed for repainting of dresses and costumes.

2 then 3 if possible

2 would be the best option time an dwork wise
I'll go with 2. Even if I'd love 3 to happen, I don't want to give you too much of a hassle and a handful of work. I fyou can make 3 in the future, it'd be awesome ! If not, well, stick with 2 :P
Oh, thank you so much for your concern:-* I really appreciate it! Yes, I think we will gradually implement this system of outfit changing. So, first there will be changes related to hair and her makeup, as well as possible keeping of the body parameters in big scenes. It's still easier than repainting all dresses and costumes:D

I'll say 3 even though it's more work :)
But it would reduce amount of the new art for quests... Or changing of outfits is still more interesting? ;)
I'd say 2 and then work towards 3 after the game is finished.
Yes, probably it will be done in such way :)
2
If you think 2 is the best way to go, then I'm all for it. Keep up the great work!
Many thanks for your support ^^`

2 sounds good.
start with 2, then later work in option 3. even though scenes were already viewed, it could give players reason for replaying.
Actually, option 3 probably may be implemented in the 'LS Gold Edition', when all the basic quests will be completely ready ^^
