Visby - the living medieval city
I need a better click-baity title. Any suggestions?
This was an absolute monster of an edit. It was shot over two trips there in different years, and I had a ton of footage. One day I expect I'll use the footage of soldiers and knights, but here I concentrate on the non-military things.
Whoops - I seem to have missed the April deadline by a whisker. Stupid 30-day months! Enjoy your free April, everyone!

My Visby story: back in my university days, when I worked as a student assistant in the library, I came across an old 2-volume copy of "Armour from the Battle of Wisby". I was already fascinated with armor (I'm American -- just accept my spelling choices), but after scanning the illustrations in this book I came to a new appreciation for the value of modern medicine. Many decades later in 2015, when I was working on the roof of a backyard storage building, my ladder toppled over and I landed badly on a hard surface, shattering my left radius. It took several hours of surgery to put Humpty Dumpty's forearm back together again; when I saw the surgeon again to have the temporary plates removed, I brought him copies of a couple of photos from the Visby excavations, showing long bones that had broken well before the battle and knitted without the benefit of proper alignment. One poor dude had to live with a leg several inches shorter because the ends of the broken leg bone healed together side-by-side; another had severely twisted lower leg due to improper alignment during healing. And then these two poor bastards got slaughtered trying to fight professional soldiers at Visby. That book really made me want to hug my doctor!
I'd love to to there one day
Visby. Place where people live fought and died
Visby, the medieval fair Harrods would sell you (sorry, been rewatching Yes Prime Minister)
Visby the place of the medieval slaughter!!! 😉😉😉
I absolutely loved it it's great when you make videos like this I find them very helpful very interesting.. I've heard you talking about this mediaeval fair and dislocation in other videos.. for me 41 minutes + wasn't long enough I just wished it had been longer Lloyd.. I am sure you might have enough footage extra to make part 2 maybe? It's always great to see you on the street asking questions and advising us what is shit and what is good.. thank you Lloyd truly great work mate I am sure I will watch it a few more times.. when I saw the bit with the fire arrows I thought you were going to make some comment about them but you kept yourself reserved.. you just mentioned about modern petrochemicals and I had a little chuckle to myself.. excellent work
Visby - The Witcher/Skyrim in Real Life they are fantasy medieval video games, maximum clickbaity-ness!
