The Iliad - what is it really about?
This one was published this morning, and I am today still staggering from the remarkable comments on it that people have been posting. Clearly, I have struck a chord with some people. I spent ages on the animated sequence in the middle, but almost none of the comments even mention this bit. By my standards, this one is very long - a quarter of an hour of one man rambling about the themes and meaning in one of the world's oldest tales.

I very much enjoyed this. Perhaps an analysis of "The Gilgamesh" is also in your future?
After watching this video, I realized that I don't have a single copy of the Iliad to my name. I hadn't even read it in grade school! I immediately sought to rectify this problem and have now ordered a copy from amazon. Thank you for the video. I can't wait for the next one.
Let a classicist shake your hand, that was very well said. The complexity and timeless relatability of the Iliad's themes is something that never fails to astonish me. I see you almost crying there, you're not alone. I liked the animation very much, it was charming. It made the episode more powerful. (Yes, I'm mostly mentioning this because of your comment, but I really thought it was lovely when I saw it).
