The quarterstaff

A couple of points you might find interesting. 1) I believe the term 'iron-shod' was the adjective since the reinforcement on the end of the staff was called the iron 'shoe'. 2) In Japanese martial arts, the staff is generally deemed to be 6' long, and it is the length used to this day. However, considering that the average Japanese man at the turn of the previous century was 5'4", a 7' long staff would perhaps be a more apt length for someone 6' tall. I think your reasoning for the 'quarter' in quarterstaff is the best I have heard yet. Hope to see more weapons videos from you.
