Will YouTube kill my channel next?

I thought it wrong to charge you for this one, but having decided not to charge my patrons for a video in which I complain about demonetisation, I then forgot to tell you about it, which wasn't the plan.  Sorry about that.  Here it is now.  I'm not just talking about the annoyances of demonetisation and censorship on YouTube, but also about the use of bots to make decisions that affect people in life-changing ways, and the lack of transparency in payments from Google.

The straw that broke the camel's back and drove to making this was the cancellation of the Thegn Thrand channel.  In the space of a couple of days, channels like mine (e.g. Schola Gladiatoria, Skallagrim, Shadversity, Metatron) made videos criticising YouTube's (auto-) decision, and calling for the reinstatement of the banned channel.  I'm happy to report that after over 35,000 signatures on a petition, the Thegn Thrand channel went back up, and I hope that channels like mine are now a bit safer.

I support you because I want you to keep making content and I don't really care what videos you monetize. Being completely honest on channels that request funding per video instead of a flat monthly donation I use the monthly limit option. Not out of distrust but to prevent any monetary glitches. I can only speak for myself but the issue of youtube censorship is very important to me and I am willing to give you a dollar to hear you talk about it.

Sorry, haven't watch the whole video yet - about half way through - but isn't this kind of like the whole Uber thing? The main problem is that YouTube do not have any real peer-competitors (yes, there's Vimeo, but that's a wee bit niche). It is getting to the point - with so many people making their livelihood *via* YouTube that the government really need to start looking into legislation that governs this sort of proxy-employment. Anyway, that's my opinion. Personally I would love it if the BBC gave Lindy a series. If we can endure a series about making bloody cakes we surely can have a series about axes and tank (particularly tanks). :)
